Today marks 67 years of Israel being re-born as a nation. It was a stunning miracle and the fulfillment of several ancient Bible prophecies. What's largely unknown to most Americans today is the fact of how close the U.S. government then (under then-president, Harry S. Truman) came to refusing to support the establishment of the State of Israel then.
Despite the horrors of the holocaust, Truman was dead set against the Jewish state and that many American Jews were also against it. But, God had his purposes and His plan (and they are never thwarted) and, remarkably, the United States had a change of heart and swung it's full support behind the re-creation of Israel for the first time since Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70. That was a span of 1,878 years!!
One of the significant factors that led the United States having a change of heart towards the creation of a Jewish state was........Harry S. Truman himself. He was a deeply committed Christian, yet very quiet and private in his life. In memoirs written about Truman, it is said that he began to study the Scriptures more closely and realized from reading and studying them, that the Jews had the legitimate HISTORICAL RIGHT to Palestine......
