This was a big game for South Carolina. They were 13-13 coming into today, with a series in Knoxville to close it out. Realistically, if they wanted to host a regional they had to win today and then probably get two in Knoxville. But that had to start today.

We had a guy making his second SEC start and first road start.

We’d already fired our big bullets in the bullpen. Kolten Smith, Brian Zeldin and Chandler Marsh… he wasn’t a month ago, but Marsh is a big bullet. We didn’t have those guys.

We knew Zach Harris wasn’t going to go out and give you 7 or anything like that. He isn’t there yet. Other than Josh Roberge, we were going to have to lean on someone today, or multiple someones, who had struggled.

That’s what we knew going in.

And then we played the game and made 5 errors.

And we won by 8 runs and polished off the sweep.

It just shouldn’t happen that way. Or, I guess it should it almost never happens that way.

This team has some guts. I guess it has to start and end there.

I listened to the entire game today while I was building a swing set. That sure was a pleasant way to spend that time, especially the last few innings. I can’t wait for Florida next weekend
