The 11 teams ahead of us have mostly coasted--Analysis of their games to date

I am convinced that few of the 11 teams ahead of UGA would only have two losses with UGA's schedule. I think the CFP is vastly underrating what it has taken to play UGA's schedule.

I thought I would do a deep dive into what those 11 teams have faced so far. I knew UGA had the hardest schedule, but the results really are a startling contrast as to caliber of opponents and home field for big games

Below is overall schedule and the four hardest games for the top 9 teams. I will add the other 2 soon. (Hopefully, the formatting works.)

Conspiracy theory: Nico was about to be pulled out anyway, but bumped his head so they took him to the locker room…

He passed the concussion evaluation with flying colors. But he had a little neck spasm. The complicit team doc mumbles something about a seizure where a staffer could overhear, then winks at Nico’s dad. They decide to come out postgame with a towel….why come out.

So the whole thing is a ruse. Using vague words like “precautionary”. So we’ve reached the point of gaming the injury list.

Just a thought.

Clash of the er, Titans…

Think we are having a bad season?
As I start to clear out room on my DVR for the huge match up in two weeks between 1-9 Fla State and 1-9 Charleston Southern, Im curious. Remember that Fla State idiot that had to delete all his social media accts early in the season? After the early L to GaTech, he posted that he would consume dog doo if Fla State lost to BC. How do you think he is doing these days? Talk about taking your lumps!
CS has a 4 point win over Furman, while FS has a 14-9 win thriller over the golden Bears. Too close to call this gem.

Just watched a Kirby video about the offense and scoring.

Sorry don’t know how to post the video but pretty much Kirby talking about the O and blaming it on playing really good defenses. That was the excuse!! Our men play what is “statically” the best D we’ve played all year this Saturday. That’s not promising or hopeful. I say this to say 2 things. First off Kirby is sounding like Richt. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love CMR but have accustomed to Kirby and his no excuse attitude. Not sure what has changed and I wouldn’t want anyone else but Kirby Smart being our leader but something is off. I get it we don’t have the horses we are used to but at the same time I feel there has been an attitude change which is alarming. Win or lose all I ask is for effort and we have all gotten that for a long time and enjoyed the rewards. There is no excuse this weekend for lack of motivation and this game could set a precedent for the future. I honestly think our guys come out and put up a beat down but unlike previous years I’m a little reserved. We’ve been spoiled yes but we still are who we are and expect “eliteness” and that’s all I ask for win or lose. Sorry for the rant and flame of you must but besides the “athletes” I just want to see composure, physicality and determination that our UGA program has been building for the past years. All that said UGA 35 UcheaT 17. GO DAWGS GATA!!!

Imagine This...

It's 7:45 Saturday Night, and the boys are getting ready to head out of the lockeroom. You can practically feel the tension in the air already. The LEDs shut off, and the only light in the stadium is the red glow around the tunnel. The smoke starts to billow out around the banner and at the time Soulja Boy starts to play. The lights in the stadium flip back on and to reveal the team running out in the black uniforms. If Kirby wants the electric atmosphere, this is what needs to happen.

Important CFP Scenarios

Gonna try my best to map out some of the different important CFP scenarios for everyone. Feel free to correct me because this will be a lot. Each prediction will come with the idea that there will be no insane upsets (ex: Army over ND).

How does UGA move up to a 5-8 seed to host a playoff game? These are the things that could help if they happen:
  1. We NEED to kill Tennessee this weekend. The only way we can move above Ole Miss or Bama (who continue to cakewalk through their schedule) is if we beat the crap out of Tennessee and/or one of them loses in the SECCG. We need to "look" like a playoff team, which we haven't in 7/9 games.
  2. BYU loses. Knocks them out of top 12. Kansas and ASU will not be easy wins for them. We would move up one spot at least.
  3. Indiana loses big. It's a fun story and I like them, but they're getting in our way unfortunately. We would very likely be ahead of them if OSU beats them by 3, maybe 2 possessions.
  4. TAMU beats Texas. The schtick of the committee this year has been ranking teams one spot above a team they previously beat (i.e. UGA right behind Ole Miss, Clemson right behind Louisville, OSU right behind Oregon). This would result in a high chance of Texas being ranked right behind us and everyone else just moving up one spot.
Who would we LIKELY play if we were each of the 5-8 seeds?
  • 5 Seed: Not happening. Would need some big upsets in the Big 10.
  • 6 Seed:
    • 1st Round vs. 11 Seed
      • Tennessee, Indiana, Notre Dame, Boise State, Colorado, SMU
    • 2nd Round vs. 3 Seed
      • Miami, SMU, Boise St, BYU, Colorado👀
  • 7 Seed:
    • 1st Round vs. 10 Seed
      • Same options as 6 seed but remove Tennessee
    • 2nd Round vs. 2 Seed
      • SEC Champ. Texas, Bama, Ole Miss, TAMU
  • 8 Seed:
    • 1st Round vs. 9 Seed
      • Indiana, Notre Dame, Miami, Ole Miss, Bama, Texas
    • 2nd Round vs. 1 Seed
      • Big10 Champ. Oregon, OSU, Indiana

Final Notes:
  • The committee has all but guaranteed that the Big 10 will host at least two first round games (Penn State and the loser of the Big10 Championship). We need to pass the eye test to be ranked ahead of Ole Miss or Bama at the end of it all for the last two host spots. There aren't a lot of spots left and chances are not looking favorable for a playoff game in Athens.
  • There will not be a clear understanding of who will host and what the rankings will be until after championship weekend. No upsets that weekend will likely give us the highest chances of hosting a 1st round matchup.
There's definitely still a lot of major points and scenarios I missed but these were the biggest one's that come to mind. Let me know your thoughts about any of this in general. For now, we just gotta focus on beating the Vols. Go Dawgs!
