NIL Money is not being discussed as the problem and it should be.

People on here are talking like - “We will just go get this WR and that WR and this OL and that OL and just raid the portal like Ole Miss and Ohio State.”

You seem to forget that we have been in it with elite WRs, DBs (Caleb Downs), OLs all along right?? Have not and cannot pony up for everything we need.

Kirby has a budget and with that budget comes hard decisions on where to spend it. He doesn’t have some blank check to spend whatever he needs. If y’all think that loading up on offensive talent is just going to be like flipping a light switch I got bad news for you. There will have to be sacrifices made at other positions groups to make it work. If we had the luxury of spending whatever was necessary to field a team like we use to before NIL, we wouldn’t be in the position we are in. Kirby elected to go heavy on D talent with the money he has. Now that will suffer and the pendulum will swing the other way.

A collective bargaining agreement and NIL cap can’t get here fast enough.

Best news of all for folks wanting lower interest rates…..

A private business approach to government spending / efficiency will lead to more confidence in US fiscal / debt situation. Ultimately investors in longer term bonds will take notice and lean in. This is a big deal.

If any dawg fans would like to help this family please donate!!

This boy is my youngest boys best little buddy and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia and any donations for this family would be greatly appreciated and if you can’t donate please pray for this little guy! He is and will be in for a long battle!

Dantzler

I know I’m in the minority but I can’t stand him. For any sport that is.

The guy is incapable of going 5 minutes without talking about Georgia football in some form or fashion. In all 3 games he hasn’t been able to shut up about how good Randall Godfrey was in the 90s. It’s exhausting.

It’s not so hard to just acknowledge that RJ is Randall’s son and move on to talk about the actual game in front of him.

The other one that really annoys me is when he is trying to constantly picture baseball and basketball players as football players. He’s said 3x already this year that “Demary would make a great safety for Kirby Smart”. First of all, no he wouldn’t. There’s no safety at any high level of football who’s 6’5” and 190 pounds. Second, even if he did, who cares? He’d probably make a good volleyball player too.

The worst one for me was last year when Mike White was at the baseball game and very graciously joined the radio broadcast during a rain delay. The first question Dantzler asked him was about the new commitment from Godfrey. CMW said he was really excited about him, and Dantzler and David Johnston go on to talk for 4-5 minutes about Randall and a game from 1994. Of course, Mike White didn’t have much to say, as he doesn’t know or care about 1990s UGA football. Just an unbelievably bad interview, if you could call it that.

Anyways, there’s a time and place to reminisce about football and stuff like that. Keep it to the Bulldog Brunch or whatever. Call the game in front of you.

Playoff Picture

This is going to be long and there are so many things still ahead that it’s hard to speak in absolutes but I do think some here aren’t looking realistically at our chances to make the playoff much less host a game.

Let me preface this by saying I’m as frustrated as any fan here. I don’t think this has been a very good coaching job across the board and we have not played a clean, efficient game all year. I do believe we are a top 10 team in a very strange year for college football and if we win out, I think we are in. However there are many things that could happen to keep us out. Please feel free to add or correct me as it is hard to get one’s mind around the possibilities.

As we all know, 12 teams get in but 5 spots are automatic. 4 power 5 champs and the highest ranked G5 (or whatever they are called now). That leaves 7 at large bids. Top 4 seeds get a bye so only seeds 5-8 get to host.

The other wrinkle is according to experts I’ve read and heard, the committee is not going to punish champ game losers as severely as they have in past. Thats assuming the loser was already inside the top 8-10. Ex: Bama makes SECCG but loses. That 3rd loss prob doesn’t eliminate them in those circumstances. Basically rewarding the regular season over penalizing a champ game loser.

Teams in the conversation

SEC: Texas, A&M, Bama, OM, UGA
One of these will win the conference so that leaves 4. Bama and OM likely higher than UGA based on head to head. Texas + A&M what happens to loser of that game?? Where are they ranked?

Big 10: Oregon, OSU, Penn St, Indiana
Again, one will win Big10. Leaves 3. If Indiana goes 11-1, where are they? If Indiana beats OSU and makes Big10 champ, where is OSU rank? If Oregon loses big10, same question?

ACC: SMU, Clemson, Miami
Lot of scenarios here but likely one of these wins ACC. Best case for UGA is Miami wins. Prob takes the other 2 out of the conversation. If not, where does Miami land?

BIG12: BYU, Colorado, ???
Same as ACC. We need to hope there isn’t an upset in the champ game as BYU would present a conundrum for the committee.

Others: Notre Dame, Boise St, Army
If things go as expected, ND is in. And as I understand it, 1 of the other 2 bc they would be highest ranked G5 champ.

So top 4 conf champs
Top ranked G5 Champ
ND might as well be automatic as long as they win out.

Assuming things go chalk, Bama, OM, OSU, Indiana likely in. Thats 10 spots taken. UGA, A&M, Penn St, Clemson and maybe an unknown for the other 2 spots.

I’m not saying I’d rank some of these teams ahead of us. Personally I think we are in if we win out and Id have us seeded 7-8 but that will depend on the outcomes of other games. And we have to understand, the committee is not looking at things with the same perspective as we do.

UGA Engine Room

I posted in Elevator thread below but wanted to emphasize how strong these four play.

Just got home from the game.

I am not sure if it comes through on TV sometimes but first N FL is about as well conditioned Team you will see. The tempo and speed of play puts you under constant pressure. From a pure basketball sense, it is really fun to watch.

From the opening tip our guys were ready! The level of communication and effort on defense in the first half was as good as any Team I have seen since the Harrick days. Maybe better.

I want to emphasize the sustained intensity and effort displayed by Godfrey, Silas, Asa and Tyrin is something to watch. Those four guys play as hard and fast as any as a group as I can remember. Godfrey is an absolute beast just the way he plays. Nothing dirty but just hard nosed physical basketball.

The other players are nice and they all add something different but those four are the engine for this squad. Tyrin is a dude, no two ways about it. If he hits 35% from three for us, it will open up so many other looks for himself and the others around him.

Silas wears hip pads under his shorts to protect his joints because he is always ready to get on the floor or do what is needed to win.

Asa is the human pogo stick. People talk about great athletes and leapers but this guy is a really QUICK leaper as well. He is really fun to watch because of his constant movement with and without the ball.

Laffew is one cool customer. Under control, head is always up and smooth with the ball. His stroke is the best on the Team IMO. The speed of play doesn’t bother him in the least. He looked really nice at the point in the second half.

Blue with a solid night and worked hard on D.

Once Montgomery is able to play I think we really will have something.

All the guys really enjoy one another and really support one another. They pick up the player on the floor, they always go find the guy that made the great pass or assist. I don’t want to get too carried away but the culture CMW has built is really something I appreciate. These are good kids who bust their ass and represent the program extremely well IMO. I think this year is going to be a really fun ride.

Team thoughts from OM game

- The whole offense was pretty embarrassing on Saturday, no other way to say it. Carson has looked like shit lately for sure, but the whole team was bad… just routine drops that middle schoolers would catch - it’s an every week thing at the point. Not just the WRs, TEs too… something is a miss there.

- The players played like shit.. however, the coaching was as bad as I’ve seen in a couple of years. Even the announcers were calling out just obvious tendencies that we put on wax every week. I mean just screen after screen after screen.. in which, it wasn’t working. The definition of insanity…

- Frazier runs so damn hard.. needed to be here in spring to work on his ball security even more. Going to be a helluva back tho. Obvious ETN is sore and hurting, tough kid.

- OL got whipped.. just got punched in the face and folded like a cheap lawn chair. And it didn’t matter who was playing where, they just got outmanned. Frustrating to watch… it’s just been a slow regression there and it should be the strength of the team.

- WRs were pretty terrible. Don’t have a game breaker in that room at this point and Evans is the one that could have some juice and he’s banged up at the moment. The fact that the biggest pass play was like 20 something yards to Cash Jones against a pretty mediocre secondary… just wow. The talent there isn’t elite at all, but damn it’s better than that showing. Figure out how to scheme what you have, every player on offense doesn’t suck and it’s up to the coaches to get more out of them and scheme them open. Notice how someone from Ole Miss was always open in the middle of the field? Yeah, something similar would be nice.

- Seconday is meh, not terrible but pretty far from good. I think Starks has regressed as well. Caleb Downs sure would have helped.. DL didn’t have a bad day.. but Mykel had little to no impact and Jalon wasn’t getting home, not a recipe for success when your game wreckers are not affecting the game. Chris Cole might be the biggest bright spot from yesterday on D, he looks like he can be a special player.. the whole defense was just pretty bad too.

- Here’s the thing, in 23 it looked like a Monken offense.. this year, it’s a 180 from that. Yeah part is on Beck limiting what can be called, but ultimately his regression isn’t an indicator of an upward trajectory for a OC from a developmental standpoint. So I think a change at OC needs to happen for next year. Actually I’m expecting that to happen at this point unless something great happens within next games. I’d be in favor of change at about two other positions but that’s neither here nor there…

Any questions, fire away. I don’t have all the answers, but can just speak on my opinion here.

You Beck Haters

All the film and all the experts agree... every single facet of our offense is bad. Starting with a poor OL and then WRs that run bad routes, get no separation, lead the nation in dropped balls. We have NO #1 WR for Beck to throw to.

If one person is the problem it is Bobo, then the OL coach, the the WR coach... then our OL. And yes Beck deserves some blame, god knows our TEs... but you people who put any more than 10% of the blame on Beck live in a fantasy world.

Coach Hays - Our OL is Abysmal

Greg McElroy - Our entire offense is underperforming

Todd McShay - Our WRs are substandard

Great first half, have to think Dylan James is VERY frustrated however

Not starting. When he was in, he was working hard in the paint to get open, but was not receiving the ball at all. Came back in for two minutes late in the half, then pulled again.
Hard to keep all the mouths fed, and his mouth is definitely not getting fed. Hope White can find him more minutes because he's young and talented and it'd be a shame to lose him.
But his minutes are not adding up.

lets talk O line for a min

Let's take a look at this from not a perspective of who stinks vs who does not as a coach. I will give you some info for context :

1. Pittman. Best recruiter of all of them. Prob the best coach. It helps having 5 stars, and he got them. BUT, to be clear, when he is done at Army, he is done coaching. He is NOT leaving Ark again.
2. Luke: Good coach, terrible recruiter (see the Green class) and the players hated him. That is a fact
3. SS: Good coach, decent recruiter, players love him. BUT, he plays too many guys. that is the problem

So, with THGIS team, one of the biggest problems is who is playing each and every series..when your center is constantly looking to his left and right and having a different player each game and even each series it kills ya. O-line is about cohesiveness, which we DO NOT have. so, lets look at the players:

A. Green: Def been hurt a lot this season, has put on weight and really should be a guard. His arms are too short to play tackle
B. Fairchild: Played well early on but is a little banged up. Still very talented, but needs more constancy
C. Wilson: The anchor of the line, but being hurt has set him back AND again, like stated up above not knowing who you are playing with hurts you playing center the most
D. Tate: Hurt and is not a great pass blocker. excels in the run game, but the injury really set him back. reports he was sick last week so we will see him play this week, and we know he wants to vs UT
E. Morris: Again, hurt. he is probably, when dialed in, the best of the group. BUT, he has to be dialed in
F. Truss: The vents fav whipping boy. should prob be a guard, but has to play tackle. he has a couple of plays a game that most ppl point out, but over all is good enough
G. Freeling: has not taken the step from year 1 to 2. has good moments, and then regresses
H. Bobo: Has actually played pretty good..BUT, because of his last name and star ranking ppl dont like him.

So, that is 8 guys. most of the time we play with 6. That is the key. we are hurt and rotating too much and no consistency. So, that is on SS save the injuries part. it is part of the game. But the lack of a running attack is directly correlated to the rotating of players. flame away!
