Let's assume we don't add Giddens...or anyone else for 2016 for the purpose of this exercise.
We definitely have 3 scholarships (JJ, KPG, Kessler) with the potential of more (Maten early departure, Juwan giving up ball, Iduwe--ya never know). So I ask what are the three essential things we must secure, yet in the spirit of the decent likelihood we can sign up to 4, lay out your four deep ideal class...if not by player, by positions.
I feel like we have to get a PG and two bigs at minimum. I think the next priority would be the best overall backcourt/wing player--a scorer.
Turtle is unproven though I think will work out. Is Crump really a PG? Seems more like a two guard to me but sounds like he wants to develop into one (thinking about his future, I guess). I still think we'd benefit highly from a more traditional PG on board (Turtle can Crump can both cross train at the 2 regardless). No idea who that guy is....Batts seems to be the top guy on our list. Competition isn't too stiff as of now.
As has been discussed before, ideally, you need four reliable bigs. We have three, but could be down to two if Maten leaves...and even if he stays, we need to get ready for the day he does. Sign two PF/C's. Claxton, Okeke, Hammonds, Obiagu...any two of those would be an excellent haul. Get two bigs ASAP though. Ideally you have a year to develop one.
For the last spot, I say guys like Daniel Lewis (especially if we wed ourselves to that "family"), Elias Harden, Alex O'Connell stick out as candidates--no idea really on these guys' likelihoods or interest. Just wanna see us secure a PG and two good bigs--to me, those should could be the priorities.
Also, doesn't seem to be bad to carry one scholarship (maybe the fourth) into the late signing period--we've been able to get some guys late here recently--Maten, Edwards, Diatta. Usually seems to be a guy we can find...and it keeps things flexible.
