This is the record of the 1993-1996 Georgia Bulldogs, my four years as an undergraduate. 70,000 was not uncommon in Sanford and boos reigned frequently. In those four seasons our longest winning streak was three games, and the Dawgs only strung together three in a row once in that time period. It seemed like every game was 1:00. And I had to walk uphill (both directions) in the snow and without shoes, to get back to the dorm. Yes, I’m an oulde and for many on here this is ancient history, but this is a part of my Georgia Bulldogs story.
In January 2018, after the heartbreak of 2nd and 26, it felt like it would never happen. So, as I dismount this back-to-back national champions high horse, raise a glass to the Dawgs and this incredible journey. To every rep in the weight room and every film study. To every “atta boy” and “attack the day” we’ve seen under Kirby Smart. To every player who left home, bought in a buckled up because playing for this program comes with a price. This morning hurts, but take solace in knowing your head coach probably didn’t sleep last night. We may or may not win another one any time soon, but we can be confident our coach will do anything and everything to make it happen.
Here’s to a new streak.
