Q - If there was one off the radar incoming freshman you’d say is essential viewing before the season who would it be?
A - Silas Demary Jr. (@silas_demaryjr) is a top 100 kid so maybe not the exact definition of under the radar but I don’t see him getting the type of hype that he should be getting.
One of the most college-ready players in the 2023 recruiting class without a doubt.

Matt Harris: Portal season never ends.
Bama can run Mark Sears at the point and Estrada at combo guard. Still, Jaden Bradley bailed for Arizona earlier in the spring, and he’d be useful now.

Field of 68 Daily: The weekend in college hoops
West Virginia found its coach (and got Kerr Kriisa back) and a handful of names shook up the portal. Plus, why you need to know about Jan Vide.
“Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama) enters the transfer portal: Nate Oats’ deep backcourt took a hit last night when Jahvon Quinerly announced that he would grad transfer. He’s been a streaky player throughout his career, but Quinerly is an exceptional passer who shot nearly 40 percent from 3 in conference play. Any high major that’s strapped at the point guard spot will likely reach out.”

Cohen Fox Sports: A new trend in recruiting has college coaches dedicating more time than ever to prospects already committed to other programs. Why? They’re pitching the transfer portal before kids finish high school. “We’ll definitely take you quick, fast and in a hurry.”

Jeff Schultz: Finally . . .
I can confirm the Hawks have traded John Collins to the Jazz for 36-year-old Rudy Gay and a future second-round pick. Hawks dumping money. Collins has close to $52 million left on his contract, plus a $26.58 million player option in 2025-26.
FWIW: Rudy Gay is due salary of $6.479 million in 2023-24, which represents an $18.861 million savings for the season below Collins' 23-24 salary ($25.34 mil). In short, Hawks are well out of the luxury tax right now.
