I know it is critical for the new players to step up, but I am thinking that between ET, Edwards and Diatta they can push HK and KPG, our two most unproductive players, off the floor.
In various places Houston Kessler is listed at 6'8", between 230-240lbs. The only reason he sees PT is his size. His shooting, defending, footwork, using his size - he does not do anything exceptionally well. Both HK and KPG are nice guys who aren't go-to shooters, nor are they tenacious defenders.
Here's my thoughts. Wilridge is listed at 6'6" and sometimes bigger. Reports are he has come in about 225 and looking stout. He definitely has athleticism, quicks, hops. I have heard mixed reviews on his defending. But I am thinking that in his soph year he could be taking the HK minutes or possibly pushing KPG aside. Edwards has a couple of positions he could fill. Diatta appears to like his game outside so I don't see him pushing HK, but pushing KPG is a strong possibility.
In short - yes, the new players have to step up. But ET and Edwards have to do their part. I see them pushing HK and KPG aside as a key element to this season.
