Had not seen it mentioned previously, but David Boyd, for whom the UGA Golf Center is named, passed away last week after a long illness. I had the privilege of getting to know Mr. Boyd through our church. My family routinely sat in the pew behind David & his wife Ann for many years, and he was one of the kindest, sweetest men I've ever been fortunate enough to meet. Always smiling, always in a good mood, and loved it when "younger folks" like myself wanted to talk to him. He and his son also took me out to play at Peachtree Golf Club, which I will never forget! I could write more, but his obituary does a better job than I ever could in putting his extraordinary life- one filed with kindness, generosity, and an unending love for family, friends, UGA, golf, God, and so much more- into perspective.
