Outed again!

"Former chairman of the Republican National Committee Michael Steele is joining the Lincoln Project, a group of Republicans working to prevent President Trump's (a.k.a. Lying Donnie, Orange Donnie, Trump Baby, Ly'n Cry'n Trump Baby) re-election."

Embrace The Suck, Trumpers.

I'm embracing draining the swamp. There's critters on both sides of the aisle that need to go. They will make some noise on their way out.

Term Limits - 2 terms and goodbye.
No donations, no lobbyists - work only for the American people, then go home.
Work together - you're not there to be a party member, you're there to do a job. Stop screwing around and get to work.

Trump hasn't reformed anything, unless you count trying to destroy oversight of the executive branch.

Wanna make certain folks get the point. Trumper's are generally very slow on mental uptake so require constant guidance on facts and reality. Embrace the suck.

I agree with you. However, it will never happen. How else would Biden and the Clinton’s make a living! The public trough is all they know.

Yeah, I've been at this almost 40 years. It is not an easy path. You have to have 34 states to ratify a change. But first, the very people in Congress who are affected, are the ones who would vote on it.

Donald Trump is an advocate, which gives the idea a better chance than we've seen in a long time. People have to stop blindly voting for incumbents.

You're in great company. Famous for believing "power and money eventually corrupts," Ben Franklin wanted term limits in the Constitution; George Washington agreed with him. Prior to ratification of the Constitution the colonies were governed by the Articles Of Confederation which did include 3 year term limits. IMO, given the size of the country today and the complexity or many issues, 2, 4 year terms for senators and four 2 year terms for congressmen could work. Less than that would lead to gridlock due to constant turnover; longer could lead to what we have today. One thing is obvious: Term limits in some format is sorely needed today.

PS_ Good luck in getting ANY senator or congressman to agree to them. They would NEVER, EVER, EVER support giving up their power, money, perks, of Fed office. States on the gravy train because of the seniority system in congress would oppose limits to the death.

There are about 70 in the House right now who favor term limits. It cannot happen all at once for the reasons you mentioned and some others.

The biggest thing is that people have to stop re-electing long time incumbents.

We have to expose and repeal the fee schedule for committee appointments and party leadership positions. You shouldn't be able to buy a title in Congress.

There was an interesting podcast by Malcolm Gladwell where they discussed the concept of lottery representation. I’m not sure that’s ever feasible, but the idea accomplished a similar result because it removes the ability of reps to be steered by special interests and encourages more participation rather than only the narcissists willing to run in today’s environment. There are downsides, but it was an interesting discussion.
