For me, my insurance has steadily being going up for at least 25 yrs and even more so in the last 10 yrs. About the only thing that changed this year is copay went from 20 to 30 and hospital deductible from 150 to 250. However, in exchange for that, there are several things basically free now that we've taken advantage of. And lots of "wellness" type things. And for the 1st time, we had another option besides Blue Cross. BUT......the other plan did not have our primary GP who I don't want to give up. So we stuck with Blue Cross even though it's costing 60 dollars more a month. I have 2 pre existing conditions so that was important. Also important, if my spouse ever leaves his employment, with the pre existing conditions, I know I can always get healthcare. It's important. Unless you've experienced (we have) a catastrophic illness with over a month's hospital stay, the bills that cost, it's hard for most to understand. That was back in the mid 00s before ACA. We are very happy with a PPO or HMO plan instead of 80/20.
There are good and bad things with ACA. Some of it inflicted by DC and some by the governors. But mostly from the greedy healthcare industry, imo. Until they get pharmaceuticals, some shady hospitals and billing practices, etc. (why in the hell Bush allowed no contracts, pricing, etc. when he expanded Medicare to cover drugs, etc.) and the non stop lobbying of them and buying campaigns, and elected representatives taking their $$ (both parties), nothing is going to get better, imo. No matter who is President or what they try to do.
No nausea pill taken twice a day should cost $3700.00 for a 30 day supply. And THAT was in 2004.
