Reactions to both College Football Nerds picking Georgia:
"They don't think Gump State will win. They must be Georgia fans" Gump: They are both Georgia fans, so not surprising. But their model is skewed by early season Alabama data that is no longer applicable. Alabama has not improved over the course of the year as other teams have - this is a totally different Alabama team.
"Those guys thought we were better than we really are, so obviously they are wrong here" Gump: these guys also had Bama winning 38-13 vs auburn. so, there's that...
"The past doesn't matter, except when it favors us" Gump: My memory isn't great, but I could almost swear that everyone was picking Georgia in the SECCG two years ago.
"If not for that miracle Georgia got in the Mizzou game" Gump: Exactly…let’s let UGa hear how great they are all week. They were a fat guy interception away from losing (ok, possibly) to Mizzou…struggled w/the boogs…they can be beaten.
Is this even a Gump? Gump: I think their analysis is fair. It depends on which Milroe we get. He could cause havoc with his running or he could be the guy from Saturday who holds the ball and doesnt run at times...our success hinges on his game. Plus...if Bowers is 100%...thats an edge for UGA....
"I mean, we beat down our common opponents exactly the same" Gump: I think the week 2 loss to Texas does impact, not only their model, but also how we are viewed in comparison go UGA. Take away the Texas game in week 2 and the two teams are very comparable. Also, we haven't lost an SECCG since Saban's 2nd season.
"We have transformed, except for the Iron Bowl where we were looking ahead to UGA. You know. No one cares about the Iron Bowl" Gump: They don't understand the Bama transformation between South Florida and Tennessee. The team we saw in the first 3 games is not the same one that 2nd half beat up on the Viles. And has steadily improved to the present. And that the Barn performance was likely looking ahead to UGA. But even so, managed a game winning play at the end. This team does not give up, and will be the best team those bulldawgs have played this year. And Kirby knows it.
Rat poison for the enemy Gump:
You can't really blame anyone for picking UGA. There is a reason they are 5.5 point favorites and they probably should be.
That doesn't mean we can't win. And frankly, I hope every single person out there picks Georgia.
Whoopass Gump: I love all this sandbagging Bama. We gonna open up a can on them boys!
Bobo is a plodder Gump:
UGA is playing far less erratically than Bama, but I don't think UGA has the explosiveness Bama has.
Plus Smart's defenses struggle against mobile QBs that can still throw well - just as they did while he was at Bama.
We'll see, I think Bama has a puncher's chance, which is all they need.

"I don't listen to Jox FM or Finebaum" Gump: Nobody is giving Bama a chance at all.........play loose and with a certain fury and take it to them
"We're not who the film says we are" Gump: This team has yet to play 4 full quarters of good Bama ball. They are due and I get this feeling it's Saturday! Every talking head and their mother will be out there telling them they have no chance just like ole "boat race" kannell ! I love it , as we got'em exactly where we want'em!!! Roll Tide!
Posts about defending each offense
Dooley/Bear era Gump: I think the game will come down to who can control the other team's rushing attack most effectively, and who wins the turnover battle.
Weakness vs. Weakness Gump:
I've seen a few of Georgia's games this year (at least part of them) and they seem more susceptible to the run this year than past years.
But at the same time, this is probably the weakest rushing offense (not counting JM's running ability) that I can remember in several years...maybe all the way back to '07. Our top 2 backs are dependable but not dynamic and it's rare that we break a long run. The ones I remember it was JaceM and he's probably out of this game OR at least limited.
Pressure Beck without simulating it Gump:
Not an expert. It seems that we have moved Downs to Nickel though which means he could be the guy on Bowers the most often if that holds. We really need a big game from out DL but they have a maybe elite OL. Stopping the run game and getting pressure on Beck with 4 will be big so we can play more coverage on the back end and hopefully force Beck to hold the ball a tick longer because he gets the ball out fast.
Idk what they will do vs us. I'd bet the spy Milroe selectively but not every play.
"We need to sack Beck more times in this game than he's been sacked all year to this point" Gump:
Turner and Braswell need about 5 sacks combined in this game.
But Georgia may have the best OL in the country. It's going to be a tall order.
"Dayne Young and Brent Rollins don't speak proper English" Gump:
Heard yesterday on a "Film Doesn't Lie" vid (done by two UGA guys) that JM hold the ball in the pocket the longest of all FBS QBs and Beck holds it the shortest.
UGA's passing game is more of a timing thing/throwing before cuts and JM depends more on seeing a man open to deliver it. Big difference.
This is where my question about man vs. zone comes into play. Man probably offers tighter coverage but risks bigger gains in case of bust or broken tackles. But if we play zone they may be able to dink and dunk us to death. IDK?
Sandy the seamstress Gump: (Responding to a post that both Saban and Kirby's Ds have always been susceptible to attacking the seams)
That's not Jalen's strength to hit seams. He's decent in crossing routes. Of course, he'd rather throw it deep, but everybody in the country knows that including Kirby's grandmother.
Beck, on the other hand, can hit those weak spots. We need to get in his face fast.
Nerd Gump who thinks he's cool: Hit Beck early. Hit Beck often. When you knock him down, reach down and help him up. Then gently whisper to him “I’ll be right back….”
