If he simply left his wallet at home, he shouldn't have been charged.
He was charged with failure to produce his license and not wearing his seatbelt.
If he had a valid license he should have been escorted to them and released with a warning.
Of course it was campus police YET AGAIN who felt the need to lock him up till he could post bail.

We eat our young around here.

Could it be that UGA's campus police stand to earn some "under the table" bonus if the Dawgs win the infamous Fulmer Cup?

What you want to bet, since it was "license required", not "driving on suspended license, driving on expired license", no mention of insurance violation and you KNOW they would, since he's from Maryland, bet he never got a Ga DL. A requirement of within 30 days of residence.

The whole thing is ridiculous.

I don't want to run a program like Myer did at UF. I don't want to over-charge and drag kids through the mud for no real purpose either.
I'm not sure how it can be addressed. If Kirby went to the Campus Police and it got out it could blow up in his face.
I did call campus police this morning and I'm calling back when the chief is in tomorrow. I'll at least give him my opinion, in a respectful manner.

Good for you! You are right about if Kirby visited. Maybe some legislators need to re evaluate some of their "laws". I find it hard to believe if he had valid license, but not on him, the police think it's ok to take to jail and give him a record.

We are all, you, me and everyone else, is jumping to major conclusions on all if this.

We haven't eaten anyone. None of us were there. We have no idea what happened, yet we bash.

Adults usually follow the rule of innocent until proven guilty. The police, in this case, are not guilty of anyrhing.

We are all acting like jilted school girls.

Because UGA and Athens/CC Police are pathetic. Arresting and charging two guys with felonies for shooting BB guns is pathetic. You would have never even heard about any of this **** at any other SEC school. If a player does something worthy of being arrested, then fine. This crap is embarrassing and people are laughing at the police in this town.

Should the players in these cases be disciplined? Absolutely! That doesn't mean they should be arrested.

While I appreciate your point, don't keep repeating the lie. It wasn't a BB gun, it was pellet guns. Google pellet guns and tell me what you think when you review the images.

They fall into the weapon category legally. Again, the police only did what they were required to by law. But why should we allow facts to get into the way.

I'm reacting to the language coming out so far and the very resent history of turning some stupid in-house BB gun damage into felony charges.
Call it what you will, but Campus Police probably should have called Kirby or somebody else involved with the program when they saw the damage to the dorm.

I guess every report I find on the case is repeating the lie of it being a BB gun, because everybody reported it that way. Reading reports of slight dents on a fridge seems more in line with BB damage as well.

The police report said pellet guns. The report was on this board. I believe it was Dash who attached it.

But it doesn't matter. We shouldn't allow facts to get in the way of a good bashing. The police have already been tried on this board. The reality TV board.

Laughing? Really?

At this board maybe. We are the loudest protesters of stuff we know nothing about. We weren't there and don't know the facts, but we protest anyway. We condemn over rumor and comments made by others who weren't there and have no clue.

The laugh is on our naive ignorance.

Come on. We know the long history of minor infractions being charged, then thrown to the press before the ink dries on the players' finger tips.
I qualified with IF though, your ignoring that seems to be similar to what you're accusing us of.
Again IF Bricoe was pulled over for a seat belt violation, which is uncommon in most places, then charged simply because his license was not on him, or was not a Georgia license, that would be a BS reason to take a kid to jail and splash his name all over the media.

So does a spit ball and straw, as well as knives in the dining hall as Atty Kim Stephens pointed out.

By the way, this is exactly what I'm talking about when I say people are laughing at the police in Athens.

Not necessarily laughing, but making fun of the situation. I've also seen a lot of people on Twitter slam the police over crap like this. It's like Brandon Adams said on the Dawgnation podcast. This seems like a ridiculous waste of resources and a foolish abuse of power to arrest someone and throw them in jail over **** like this. There's a little thing called discretion, and obvious UGA and Athens police don't have any.

Was just reading elsewhere, he didn't have a license of any kind. So whose car was it? He had flunked the GA test and hadn't had the time to re take. I can attest it can take HOURS out at GSP in Athens where DL svcs are.

By the way Hodgson's 5 pts drugstore just had an armed robbery and the perps are on the loose in 5 pts on foot.
