Most of the wealthiest states are blue states. Most of the poorest are red states.

Recently saw a listing of the most solvent states and the reverse of what you say is true. Something very basic seems to escape: if you have a revenue stream of 1 billion and owe 2 billion you are not "wealthy", you are in fact bankrupt.
One reason the poorest of the states keep adding irresponsible liabilities to their fiscal nightmares is they have had it recently demonstrated that a bailout to the too big to fail is sure to come their way. Dirty shame that it has to be that way but it is. That is actually part and parcel to the political conversation in place like Ca, Illinois and NY. Particularly the first two. Their blank check attitude and let the rest of America share their ultimate pain defines you extremist takers. Ca has already jumped the shark. Here, btw, is the worst 15 as far as most insolvent states plus 1.

Double edge sword. Wealthiest states(blue) do have higher incomes. They also have higher gas prices, higher housing cost are almost 2x's a much ($227 per square foot vs. $119 square ft ), much higher taxes and so on.
So are we defining wealth by how much you make, or how much it takes to live and pay your bills? FAct is, if you make $100k while living in Georgia and take a job in NewYork or California making the same thing you are in for a rude awaking. Your expendable cash is going to take a hit.

Giving to churches is commendable, but I was referring to building the nation, which is about funding and building public works on a massive scale. The republicans of today would fight tooth and nail against the projects that allowed us to become a dominant bastion of great social AND capitalistic ventures.

PS. I just did the math myself. During George W. Bush's 8 years in office federal spending per year increased 66%. When Obama's tenure is up federal spending will have increased 35% during his 8 years in office. Both are terrible and it's a huge problem. Even if I was short sighted and couldn't grasp the future value of developing renewable energies I understand their cost is tiny in the big scheme of our economy.
I do think we should spend most of the 39 billion allotted for renewables on research and development as opposed to subsidizing the industries. If we can develop cost effective products, they will sell.

As for the stupidity of windmills and solar panels, do you have the slightest idea of how many Terajoules of electricity this nation needs every day? If you did, you wouldn't waste your time with tinker toys like windmills and solar panels that only produce electricity for around 4-5 hours on a good day and damned little on most days(and none at night. As for windmills, anyone with a brain knows in order to produce any appreciable amounts, you have to get above 1000' high and that the best places for them(mountain tops and sea shores) are so far from the electrical grid as to make them useless
LOOK DOWN. That's where renewable energy can come from. West of the Mississippi, especially along the Rim of Fire. Geothermal is "Renewable, non polluting, non "Greenhouse gas-emitting" energy but your kind of idiot leftists are too ignorant of REAL energy and how to produce it.

Also, this nation has 77,000 dams but only 2400 produce electricity. If that White Guilt elected president were a knowledgeable man who wanted to actually do some good, he could have taken that 200 BILLION Dollars he poured down the rat hole and retrofitted tributary dams on the Tennessee, Missouri, Columbia, Ohio, Arkansas, Rio Grand, Sacramento, Mississippi and other rivers to produce electricity and they, unlike the Condor Cuisinarts and Sun God altars, WOULD have done so and the rate payers over a period of years, would have paid the taxpayers back while the construction would have employed tens of thousands of Americans with high paying jobs.
