Any chatters familiar with Cataloochee skiing in NC?...

Taking my 6 year old to Keystone in early April but he probably needs a warm up before we go. Heard good things about Cataloochee, but is too late in the season to go? Is Asheville to far to commute for a 2-3 day TRIP?

Skip NC. The bunny hill is fantastic at Keystone. It's west of the main village and well worth the drive/bus trip over for beginners. You won't be disappointed.

Asheville is an easy commute, but it's cheaper to stay near the skiing

If it's to teach a 6 year old I guess it's ok, but otherwise it seems late in the season to me.

Thought the same. Claiming 40+ base but gotta have bald spots in mid march*

Looks like a half hour commute?...

He's skied but was only 3 so probably gotta start over. Would prefer to stay in Asheville so we could hit a brewery for beers and burgers at night but anything over a 30 min drive and I'll have my hands full with a crabby kiddo.

Longer

By the time you literally get up the mountain to the slopes, it's at least 45-50 minutes from downtown.

Is that the mountain where you practice for slalom racing?

Is a person allowed to ski with a suspended drivers license?

They keep 3 ft tall tree stumps out there to make it more real for me

Got that Drivers License renewed today, too. BOOM!
