haven't known anybody from HR worth a durn. maybe you'll be the first
The company I worked for changed the name from HR to People Dept. It was anything but.
Yeah most HR peeps stink. My old man retired when I was at UGA from his company and the HR person simply handed him his retirement papers to.....Never went over his retirement benefits. Come to find out his 40K life insurance policy automatically decreased down to 7,500 upon retirement. He passed away a few years ago and by the time we paid for an avg funeral/casket/prep for grave sight etc we were up to 17K in costs. Sure dad should have read through it but when your a working man and just worn out from 30 years on your feet doing maintenance the last thing you worry about is a stack of papers handed to you.
Word to the wise...if your depending on your companies benefits to satisfy your life insurance needs your going about it all wrong. When or if you retire from that company they will decrease that benefit down to a nominal level that will not even come close to satisfying the funeral costs.

You could call Planned Parenthood, they are in the human remains resources business.

Brother in law in his late 50s who has been in HR management most of career says companies are downgrading HR depts drastically and finding cheaper ways to do some HR functions. Sorry.
