The demands by the students are ridiculous and the colleges are reaping what they have sown. They want the president to admit his white privilege and basically run the school.
That was mild. You should get a load of what passes for debate. The raw hate and racism expressed by the "participants" on the national level is at the gutter level. The left has created this monster and is now being eaten by it. Like a lab experiment that went wrong and the culture they created is out of control and multiplying. Ugly to watch.Short answer, no, We are not headed for a race war.
I really don't know enough about The UM situation, or at least the circumstances leading to the demand and resignation to form a qualified opinion just yet.
I do think the black students at Yale who are on video cursing at and demanding a professor design his position and ''get out of Yale'' because he voiced what seems to Me a reasonable position were out of line and it made me uneasy watching it.

Actually the bigger question is "should the first amendment apply on campuses only if you agree with what's being said".....I understand that sentence contains a lot of microaggressions so it could be my white privilege speaking but come on. And if your "safe space" (excuse me while I lol or gag whichever comes first) is a public place and one that I as a member of the public cannot invade then where is my "safe space" or am I not allowed one since others (the rads) don't agree with what I'm saying.I disagree with your assertion that ''the left has created this''. There is much venom on the right as well. The vitriol since Obama took office has been extremely negative from his enemies on the right.
I do think We're getting into problematic waters when minorities start making unreasonable demands on universities. That is one component of a complicated set of issues though.

More gibberish from one who can't stand on logic or intellect therefore must constantly deflect and reach and weakly divert. Drugs are no substitute for reality. And using the mishmash coming from a seriously drug altered mind in a search for reason or sanity to confirm one's beliefs is a Hail Mary at best. LOL! Any port in a storm however. To quote a great American songwriter, "Dont criticize what you can't understand...your sons and your daughters are beyond your command...your old road is rapidly aging...please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand, for the times they are a-changing."
Speaking of macro the issue gets down to whose defining hostile in that someone who doesn't agree with me turns hostile the way the screaming, yelling, molotov cocktail slinging, gun toting, shooting and yes dismissive students and black lives thugs show their hostility. And as to culturally exclusive whose deciding that when a white person is not allowed to have an opinion or say simply because of the color of his skin. Or his or her years or their middle classness. Or is dismissed because he or she represents "white privilege". So please do get down to specifics because that is key to my and all reasonable folks argument or discomfort. Because when you do get down to specifics this whole Mizzou protest thing explodes. There are none that would rise to the level of angst. A druggie overlaying a swastika which is offensive to "JEWS" whom the left and blacks both mutually abhor. So that's out. A confrontation where who knows who called who what and even if they did...SO WHAT in these days of over the top name calling. Coming primarily from radical left like the groups I mentioned above. Telling them they are not allowed to insult is like cutting their tongues out of their mouths.Your argument is too macro for my view. I do think students deserve an environment that isn't hostile, isolating, dismissive or culturally exclusive. It's the specifics in the Yale case that bothers Me. I didn't read anything in the professor's words that seemed over the line. I think there is value in diverse points of view, regardless of whether they offend people. I'll go so far as saying people need to hear points of view that are outside their comfort zones, particularly in a university setting.

Dylan's lyrics applied to his bottom line financially same as it did then. Tailored to make $$ off you drug store protesters. We used to sing that crap and laugh like hell in the military but frankly we liked Smokey Robinson and the Miracles better. Hold me while I lmao @ your reactionary language. You really do fancy yourself as a real live communist don't you. My brother is the only one I actually know but he denies the hell out of it. You (at least in your mind) would make number two. Are you required to register anymore? As to understanding young people you seem to be somewhat ignorant to there being billions upon billions of them. Not two of them exactly alike. Having raised four recently, being one of a family of nine children, serving in the military for four years with hundreds of thousands, 15 mos of which were under trying circumstances, attending a large public university, then managing a business largely consisting of folks in the twenties and thirties (over 8.000 in all) I will agree that understanding one person is difficult. The most difficult to understand of all being myself. But you have the perfect solution apparently. Reduce them all to one single train of thought and complexity and there you go. Your remarks were those of a damn fool if you really believe what you posted, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and say you are just naive and maybe stirring.Bob Dylan's lyrics apply, even 52 years later, to clueless reactionaries like you. You don't understand young people nor do you have a remote clue about what life is like for African-Americans. But, hey, keep pulling those "profound" thoughts out of your backside. You're a regular barbershop philosopher.

And for the record we both agree here in principal. State your case, tell it like it is but be prepared for other views and the rebuttal something the left refuses to do. And finally an SGA guy "SAYS" some guys in a pickup called him the N word. I'll go on record and say he's lying. He should have been more creative....some white guys in a pickup, yeah right. Did you shoot them the bird too? LOL!
And Boo freaking Hoo, a privileged prima donna athlete loses some games and gets his feelings hurt so he joins a protest to protect his safe space by ?firing the school president? who really played no part in anything. Get your sorry azz in the weight room and win some games. Get your pitiful butt to class and learn something other than football and do something with your life. That's a great way to prevent your becoming a loser at life too and the best revenge. And be a friend and good neighbor to everyone even if they are white. That's specific.
