Barn away tix $115. WTF?*

Pretty wild, but we've been spoiled at Georgia ...

These schools know everyone that goes to games now is well off. All they have to do is look at the tailgates and all the expensive gear folks wear. There aren't any regular people scraping together money to go to games anymore. They can't afford it and quit coming a long time ago. They might come to town for the party but they don't go to the game. It's all rich folk in the stadiums now. I think they figure why not take 'em for as much as you possibly can. I don't think that was the attitude 30 or 40 years ago, but it is now.

I don't think its rich folks ; just folks that can't say enough is

enough. That some love debt and will be in debt forever .

It's crazy how much it cost now days . But everyone different .

Re: I guess they don't realize it's on tv*

We scoff at them and call them toothless and barners, but most of those Auburn alums are rich trust fund types that were too dumb to get into a good school. They worship Auburn. It gave them a piece of paper that says they went to college and graduated. They are appreciative of it and will pay as much as any school to go to games.

Plus, they've been in 2 national championship games in the last 5 years. That helps folks pay more, too.

Should have said upper middle- no one under upper middle ..

goes anymore.

Yep, they are going to run with it while they can, at some point...

they will price themselves out of the market but they will push until they do. People with good seats are probably paying $150 per ticket when you look at the total cost of "donation" and ticket cost. Add another $200 for the tailgate supplies and you're looking at an $800 day for four people to go to a game. A fan who goes to 6 home games a year is in for $5000 a season.

The guy I tailgate with is a dentist who comes to every home game, spends Friday and Saturday night at the Georgia Center and does a huge tailgate right outside the stadium. He told me he spends about $10-12,000 a year on Georgia games. I guess the large SEC schools have enough financially successful alumni now that they can count on filling up the stadium at the high cost it takes for individuals to go to games.

Keef I don't remember if it was USA today or Wall Street BUT

one of them did a article on how students are not attending games like they use to . How attendance were falling at major schools . Georgia was one of the school talked about .

isn't it mostly no-shows though, which furthers my point ..

They're still getting the money for the seat.

If you look at the teams that fill their stadiums, you usually find...

they aren't the top tier academic schools. AU, Bama, Clemson, FSU, etc have rabid fans but aren't exactly academic stalwarts. On the other hand; tech, Vandy, Stanford, etc are well know for academics, but their stadiums aren't exactly packed.

Those 2 MNC games really help the AU admin ask for, and get, more too.

They know their own market - they'd fleece those Vandy fat cats ..

if they could and will if they ever can. That is a good deal, though, for these days, no matter how you slice it. Good road trip town, probably get to see us win and tickets are relatively cheap.

If we ever get there, Georgia will repay Alum by ...

flat bending them over and telling them to like it.
