Verron Haynes is an underrated stud in UGA Football history. Of course, there's P-44 Haynes. But those Ole Miss & Tech games were mostly about Haynes running it down their throats. If we had known what we had with him earlier in that season, I wonder if we'd have defeated Auburn, UF, and USC-east. What if....
Other than Haynes, you could see the fight in that team. Richt had installed a tougher regime than what he inherited, and it was clear that they were getting mentally tougher. On the minus side, you could see the penalties, offensive disorganization, & occasional clock mis-management, which plagued Richt for 15 years. But you could see it in his first season that we were a program on the way up.
