- I did not expect us to come back after last nights game and dominate like we did today. We followed up our best regular season win in a couple of years with our most complete performance of the season. We should’ve run ruled them and I imagine Sully was thinking he should’ve let it happen.
- Florida threw out some freshman pitchers when the game was out of reach. Guys that probably won’t get much action outside of the odd midweeker. I imagine they’ll throw everything and the kitchen sink at us tomorrow to avoid a sweep and get their first SEC win.
- Curley getting the start today sure made a lot of us scratch our head. CWJ was cooking today with his decision making. Henry leading off? It was odd, it was different, but it worked to perfection.
- I don’t know if Curley is going to be a weekend starter after today. He was great, but as has been alluded to, the scouting reports say throw off speed against the Gators. Curley threw an excellent game.
- The bats were hot out of the gate and stayed hot throughout all 9 innings. Obee mentioned on the radio post game show how good Curley was. I can only imagine how much of a relief it was for the players and staff to have a 1-2-3 inning in the first inning.
- Bullpen today was excellent. They got outs when they needed to. They didn’t turn this into a shootout. And we still have some of our best arms available for tomorrow.
- Speaking of tomorrow, something tells me CWJ is salivating at the idea of sweeping the Gators in Gainesville. Wouldn’t be shocked if he was aggressive tomorrow.
- Tip of the hat to Hudson today in coming up big in his first start. He had an excellent game today and will have more opportunities in the future. This is the most depth we have had in a long time. As much as CWJ loves analytics, he has to feel like a kid in the candy store with how he has guys for almost any scenario.
- Phelps and Alford are in mini slumps. Crazy how we still won 17-2 when these guys weren’t great at the plate, and Phelps was also not that great in the outfield today. They are due for a big game. Tomorrow would be a great time for it.
- I’ll close by stating the obvious: it’s always great to beat Florida. First series win in the swamp in almost 20 years. To give you an idea, I was 8 the last time we won a series in Gainesville. A sweep tomorrow would be the cherry on top and I think we will be ready. We were able to come back and dominate today after an emotional win. CWJ has done an excellent job keeping his teams focused.
