Many years ago on the Ron and Ron Show (couple of nuts syndicated out of Florida...they made me LOL) played one great one.
They said for their April Fools joke, they contacted a friend if theirs who owns a garage door bitness. They explained that he told them like regular locks have a master key that opens any lock, there was a certain master frequency that would open any remote garage door. They said they had talked him into giving them that frequency. They said at 10:00am they were going to broadcast that frequency over the radio and asked everyone to turn up their radio and drive through neighborhoods with their windows down and the radio blasting to open everyone's garage doors.
At 10:00am they said "OK, here it goes" and played some high frequency tone.
So they had people actually doing this as well as people calling up chewing them out or just crying begging them not to do it.
One gal was crying saying she had left work and was rushing home because her two dogs were in the garage and would soon be running the neighborhood.
Even better, some people were calling in saying they were doing it and were giving live reports of all the garage doors opening, thus perpetuating the gag and further convincing people this was actually happening.
Had to give them props for a joke well done.
