there are probably more great CFs than any other position, tough decisions. Here’s mine:

1. Willie Mays - .302; 660; 1903; more baseball experts select Mays than anybody else.
2. Ty Cobb - .366; 117, 1933; probably a little better than WM as an O threat, but those who saw both say that TC couldn’t play CF the way Mays could.
3. Mickey Mantle - .298; 536; 1509; if not for injuries and alcohol, MM could have possibly been the best.
4. Tris Speaker - .345; 117 (dead ball era); 1531; TS had the best D stats than anybody in MLB history.
5. Joe DiMaggio - .325; 361; 1537; his 56 game hitting streak probably never be broken.

This is the exact same list that Tim Kerkjian has. Yours might be different.

HONORABLE MENTION: Ken Griffey Jr, Andre Dawson, Andrew Jones, Duke Snider, Jim Wynn, Kenny Lofton, Vada Pinson, Carlos Beltran, Richie Ashburn, Willie Davis, Kirby Puckett, Cool Papa Bell, Bernie Williams, Fred Lynn, Larry Doby, Oscar Charleston ( played in the early Negro Leagues, 1920’s, and those who saw both play swear that he was better than Willie Mays.)
