They are closing a plant in Perry Iowa and firing 1200 employees in a town of 8000. At the same time they plan to hire 57,000 illegals only. They have been tracking them and recruiting them. Why? Because they can fire US citizens and hire these invaders for low wages. THAT is the reason big business donates to the Dems and tells them we need cheap labor and Biden opens the border wide open. It is sickening. I’m done with all companies that do💩 like that.

First, I’m no fan of Tyson Foods.

But I’d be interested in your source for this post because I think they are conflating different issues to mischaracterize what is happening.

No company can hire 57,000 illegals. All of the people that Tyson is hiring have papers, have work permits and are registered as migrants and are awaiting court dates for processing.

As an aside, the court system is backed up and these processing court dates take months or more often years, which is why the bill to fund and expand the court system would be helpful, but anyway.

Tyson has about 40% turnover every year in its labor force, which means they are desperate for workers, and the work itself it not exactly of an enticing nature. It makes sense that they are tapping this labor market.

The plant in Iowa is a pork plant, and the pork business has been horrible the last year. There is no evidence that I could find that the pork operation in Iowa is being moved to a different state and staffed with migrants. Great grist for the conservative media machine, but I don’t think it’s accurate in this case.

Now, if you would like to get upset, I suggest you focus on the conservative efforts to loosen child labor laws across the country. Shining lights of humanity like Sarah, Huckabee Sanders have changed the laws to allow 14 to 17-year-olds to work more hours later into the night while holding more hazardous jobs. Tyson has taken full advantage of this, and, in fact, I am sure is one of the corporations behind the push for these changes. Apparently one of the ways we can Make America Great Again, is by going back in time to when you could really profit off of child labor.

Exactly.

When construction company owners say “white guys/ Americans don’t want to work for what the job pays…” they are FOS.

No, it’s YOU who doesn’t want to pay what the wage is that would get you the amount of employees you need.

Same for farmers on this board who claim “if I didn’t hire illegals to pick my crops, I wouldn’t make any profits”… if you are a business and you can only succeed by breaking the law, then you don’t have a real business and you’re not a real businessman. And you deserve to be bankrupt.

Follow the freaking laws. It’s not that hard.

It’s not the blueberry farmer in Alma who is responsible for the state of the labor market. Or the builder in Houston County. Both those guys have overwhelmingly voted for candidates who promised to deport and close the border over the last 30 years.

Punishing those guys before the problem actually gets fixed seems unjust to me.

The culprits who need to be punished are large corporations (like Tyson), NGOs, those who fund the NGOs (people won’t like finding out whose behind that), and the suits in Washington.

That group needs to be imprisoned and have its assets seized.

In addition to making our border harder to cross than North Koreas and deporting roughly 30 million illegals.

Nobody wants deportation more than me. I’ll ship all those fools back.

But business owners keep freaking hiring them - they don’t come to the USA for the fresh air - they come because they know some business owner is always willing to break the law to put a few extra dollars in his pocket. Shameful.

Don’t hire these folks! Hire your own countrymen first. Our forefathers are turning in their grave.

If these illegals were worth a shat, they would have stood up for what’s right in their own countries. If these men are too fuggin weak to kill and die for justice in their own homeland, why would I want to import a bunch of men with weak constitutions here?

No arguments from me about sending them all back.

But what do you expect the farmer or builder to do in 2024?

Take a principled stand and take food out of his kids mouth? You go try and find a white or black framer or brick mason. The few left are in their 70s.

You think those guys are happy having to hire people they don’t know from the man on the moon? Versus hiring their neighbors their Dad and grandad could hire back in the day? I assure they aren’t. But they don’t have any other options.

A tough pill to swallow is that we commoners have almost no power in America. It was never an issue until the elite class got replaced by elites who despise us.

There’s some nuance here. You can hire laborers on Visa.

But without getting into too much specifics.

We should have known it was wrong to outsource all of our manufacturing to China for forty years and strengthen a country that does not align with our values.

American business owners should have also know it’s not a smart idea to take all of our trades and farm them out to foreign nationals who have broken into the country.

You reap what you sow.

I don’t think we are disagreeing.

My only contention is that it wasn’t the American business owner who made those decisions.

It was the American regime (elites, politicians, bankers whatever you want to call them) who made that decision.

Now if by American business owner you mean ultra wealthy guys like the Ford family sure they took manufacturing from Detroit and moved it to Mexico. But there is a big difference between those guys, corporate boards, hedge fund groups, and

John Doe peanut farm in Dooley County or Bob Smith who used to own a widget factory in Fulton county. Those guys didn’t make those decisions and routinely voted for politicians who promised they would implement policies to prevent this from happening.

They donate money you don’t . Donating was changed when Obama was in office. They took me and you out of the money donating business. Before corps could not donate openly to a person. Obama allowed that to change. You and I do not matter to someone running for office. The citizens got what they wanted a communist leader. It is not going to ever get better. The election are financially rigged. We say follow the money. Well money in political donations matter more now.

Would you be willing to pay considerably higher food costs for “legal labor” to harvest it? Would you pay a 25% premium on your house and have it take 50% longer to build to ensure that it was built by 100% legal labor and that all of the materials were made in the USA? We need immigrant labor. If we truly closed the door to all immigration you wouldn’t like the results. We should control the border, but we should not close the border.

I don’t want to pay health care for 50 million people from another country. Do you know we are building a port in Gaza to take a few hundred thousand Hamas soilders. What else would be coming here from Gaza. We are also importing a few hundred thousand Haitians. This is what we are talking about not this controlled thing your trying to sell .

We don’t need over a million people working here that’s wee bit too many! People have been working here since the 50s with green cards but they would go back home after the crops were

Big Business has given far more to GOP since around 1950.
Pass the recent Senate bill to control the border. It ain't perfect but the right thing to do until Trump can do better 10 months from now.

Support formation of labor unions if you want to slow this down.
Who told you that they were hiring illegals? Maybe they are hiring legals.
Closing Iowa plant and moving to where?

Big business may have given more to repubs years ago, but in today's world it goes to the dims. Payback for more regulations to keep competion at bay. The new socialism.

So true. The dark money and corporations donating must stop. They control all policy decisions especially in the Dem party but some in republican too. I don’t like it no matter who the party is. And the Zuckerbucks crap helping to buy Joe the last election that should be illegal too. Term limits would help all this a lot. They might do what’s best for the nation instead of always what will help me stay in power.

I don't think this post is very factual. And by the way big business loves the repubs because they support lower taxes on big businesses and the top 1%.

1) I would
2) I understand many would not
3) all of these laborers were white dudes, and some black dudes, until about 1988. I’m 43 so that doesn’t feel that long ago. It’s not like home builders got a huge decrease in labor costs, which created huge windfall profits, and they passed that money on to home buyers. Lololol

They put that money into their pockets.

You think that illegal alien laborers caused a huge decrease in housing prices? Oh boy.

Farmers and home builders saw an opportunity, took it, and stuffed the difference into their bank account.

Similarly, having cheap hand labor has dramatically stunted the development of farming technology. I read a book on this a few years ago. If labor costs were higher, there would be a huge need for technology to replace hand labor.

1) also, I never said all the materials needed to be made in the USA. Who feels that way? No one i’ve ever met.

2) I never said I didn’t want immigration. No one on this thread, and I don’t think anyone on this board, has ever said they don’t want immigration. Elon musk is an immigrant. The founder of google is an immigrant. Something like 25% of the fortune 100 were founded by immigrants.

I can’t tell if that was an accident by you or if you’re actually trying a conversational slight of hand. Legal immigration is not the same thing as illegal immigration.

Exactly.

Where is the liberal in this thread to say “But if they got rid of all the illegals, would you be willing to pay 25% more for your chicken?” 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴

Companies don’t hire illegal aliens versus American citizens and pass the savings onto the consumer. L O L.

They fire, hard-working Americans, hire a bunch of foreign nationals who are in the country illegally, and stuff the difference into their own pockets.

Homebuilders and farmers of the worst offenders.

If you are a homebuilder, or a farmer, take a hard look in the mirror at what you’ve done to your own country.

Actually, they found people who were willing to perform the work that legal Americans were not. Try to build a home or a commercial project with entirely legal labor (GCs don’t directly hire illegal labor, the illegals are a couple of tiers removed) and make a profit. You won’t be able to stay in business using entirely legal labor. Same with farmers, do you think individual farmers set the price for soy beans, corn, cotton, or anything else? The market sets the price and the margins are small.

I can’t speak for farmers but I can directly speak for builders, the laborers on our job sites make more money than the average legal American citizen, and you still can’t get “legals” to perform the work. There are few people on our job sites making under 80k a year and many are making well over 100k. I’m not just speaking of the managers, I mean the people performing the work.

I wish there was a legal means for migrant workers to enter the US, but there isn’t. A migrant worker from Central America isn’t going to be able to legally enter this country. If you are a wealthy European or from India with an advanced technical skill, you can, but we need workers just as badly as we need people with advanced skills.

I agree with you. We’re actually saying the same thing.

Builders hiring the cheaper option (illegal aliens) and pocketing the difference has gone on for so long that there really aren’t many white trade people left. I read in the New York Times that 97% of sheet rock layers are Hispanic. 97%! You couldn’t find enough white guys to do it at any price.

But that is the problem today. It wasn’t that way in 1988. Then, 87% of all roofers were white, now 87% are Hispanic.

This isn’t an anti-Hispanic rant, but when builder after builder after builder chooses to break the law and hire the cheaper illegal labor and does that for decades, you force honest white workers out of that field. To the point where you can’t even find white guys, or black guys, on construction sites anymore.

And I agree, the dude who laid my pool tile makes over $70,000/ year. Not the manager, the actual dude covered in mud. I talked with the owner.

So, while I don’t think you personally can do anything about the situation as an individual builder, that doesn’t mean I will forget who caused this problem.

I work in construction, just because they’re Mexican or other, doesn’t mean they work any harder or do better work than American workers. Some do shitty work, others do good work. They can be a safety nightmare, cutting concrete with a saw without a mask or even safety glasses. Not tying off, etc. We built a parking deck in SLC, worst concrete finishing that ive ever seen.

We need immigrant labor. If we truly closed the door to all immigration you wouldn’t like the results. We should control the border, but we should not close the border.
I don't think anyone that says "close the border" is speaking in terms of a permanent solution and those that are suggesting we should shut down the border completely would be less than 5 per cent of voters. As of today, I would certainly advocate a conditional total shutdown of our borders until we were able to process all and absorb those that deserve to stay. I don't think we'll have a shortage of chicken plant workers and berry pickers if we shut down mass immigration for a yr.

As you said in your last paragraph controlling the border is the long term solution and at that point we could let companies sponsor foreign workers for temp permits and even permanent resident status but this has also been the answer for the last 40 yrs. It has not been fixed because we've allowed the pols to divide us with a binary choice. It's not shut down the border and destroy our economy or allow millions in for 200K unskilled laborers. We could get a good start on controlling our border in a couple of weeks if the motivation was an orderly process that allowed those needed and or deserving to enter the U.S. in a quick, fair and legal manner.

Here the truth , I was talking to a tree planter . That plants hundreds or thousands of acres of trees.

He said the American workers are lazy and don’t know what hard work is . The immigrants work harder and they don’t complain . They do a outstanding job..

That’s why companies want more immigrants working . I also work for a very well known company and young workers are lazy as heck . When work gets hard they have to take bathroom breaks. They come up with all the reason in the world to get out of work .

So yeah I guess Tyson sees what I see and what others see . Blame parents and this baby culture we have. The system not going get fix because of these babies we have . motivated people work better than American youth .

Cry in the river if you don’t like this post . We more concern DEI crap than hard work I don’t blame Tyson and other companies. Want to stop it ? Tell your kid or kids put down the dang phone and go pull weeds . Teach them work . .

Good. Let Tyson concentrate all Of these illegal invaders at their plants so Trump will know exactly where to head to for the coming roundup in order to deport them. Kidding, if Tyson is hiring illegals, they should receive massive huge fines that exceed to amount they saved by hiring them to begin with.

Biden’s plan with the illegals is to backfill to void of dem voters that was left by people leaving these Marxist areas like NY and Cali for more tax friendly areas.

Dear lowered,

Yeah guys leave Tyson alone! It’s not a giant corporations fault they hire people who shouldn’t be in this country in the first place! The real reason illegals are here is because white kids just don’t work hard enough these days.
