They got rid of BJ Upton and his crazy contract. While a very good closer, they don't need CK anymore (they are not gonna be leading many games to close anyway).
They got SD's best pitching prospect and #70 in MLB overall. Also got a 20 year old who was a 2nd rd pick in 2013.
And they got the #41 overall pick (they now have 6 picks in the top 100).
Maybin is owed $16M over the next two years (he is only 28, they may resign him if he is decent). If he doesn't work out, he will be off the books by the end of next year.
If they are gonna tank, at least they are doing it right. Get rid of all the big salaries, restock the farm system, play the young guys, and have plenty of money to spend on free agents in 2017.
