Can anyone explain to me how Georgia was picked to win the east

and Alabama was picked to win the west but Auburn was picked to win the SEC championship? I know it was based off some kind of point totals but if Auburn isn't picked to play in the championship game how can they possibly win it? That was nuts to me.
