I admit I haven't posted much since the end of the season (I'm not even as active on the football board as usual this year), so I'm hardly qualified to argue with those who are closer to the program than I certainly am. But I peeked back in earlier this week and noted a few posts where people think we are no better than an NIT team in 2015-16. I was very surprised to see this appear to be the prevailing sentiment.
I realize that Nemi and Thornton will be very hard to replace, but it seems to me that in the leadership department we get that made up for (and then some) with 2 senior guards. I think we might be as good or better in the low post with a full offseason of development from Maten. The team will be much deeper and with contributions spread out more evenly than we've seen in the past between the frontcourt and backcourt. I get that we are relying on true freshmen for depth, but I think our talent in depth has been increased almost exponentially.
I'm always an optimist when it comes to UGA basketball, but I'll be disappointed if this team isn't back in the NCAAs next March with a favorable seed.
