Even if it's under a new HC, I think We need to stay the course on defense. If we can keep the 2016 defensive class together while adding Derrick Brown and a few other key players, We'll be well on our way to building a top defense for years to come.
Pruitt doesn't like how Schotty is holding the team back, I think We're all on board with that as well.
If Richt will bring in a really top OC, and get out of his way, he might yet be a CEO type and win titles.

The dysfunction is Mark Richt. He's not a head coach or a CEO. If he was he would have never kept Willie for so long. He can't make the tough calls. He too nice a guy.

To keep Mark Richt is not in his best interest.

We know your thinking on Richt. He likely wont be fired or leave though. That leaves re-booting the staff. Schotty HAS TO GO. I hope Richt decides to, or is pressured to go outside his comfort zone and hire a dynamic and proven COLLEGE OC. It's counter productive to only consider those who run pro-style offenses, that is what convinced CMR to hire CBS. He needs to shed that anchor and simply make the best possible hire for THE PROGRAM, not as a stepping stone for QBs to The NFL. I'm 100% for training players as best we can for the pros, but there are too few people running pro-style offenses to have a good pool of candidates.

I'll say it again, I wish Richt would look at Cumbie at TCU. In many ways he should be a perfect fit with Richt, they have near identical values, plus he knows how to score the damn football.

The problem with this reasoning is that no first-rate OC is going to want to work for a coach who is perceived to be on the hot seat. Specifically, in the case of the TCU coach, why would he want to leave a very secure, solid program in a state ABSOLUTELY loaded with high school football talent to come to UGA?

TCU is maybe 5th in the recruiting pecking order in Texas.
The big reasons would be money and being the sole OC, he shares the job at TCU.
I don't know that he'd come, certainly the dicey state of Richt's job will be a negative with many potential replacements for Schotty.

I don't agree with any of that crap

5th in the pecking order? Behind who? Texas? They are a dumpster fire. Texas Tech? Not nearly as successful as TCU, besides, have you ever been to Lubbock? DFW is a mega-city in comparison. Baylor is successful and probably the only program comparable to or superior to TCU.

Well then, what kind of crap DO you agree with ?
That's one solution. Or let Lilly take over OC and Rocker take over DC. Have never heard anything negative about either of them.

If Pruitt leaves, Richt's fate should be sealed.
What would be left worth building on ? Pruitt's plan is really the ONLY plan I see within the program right now.

Well, as I said, if any of the rumors are true, we can't have that, no matter how well some of us think of his coaching.

What, having a shouting match with CMR ? That sort of thing happens on many staffs.
How could a passionate coach see the level of incompetence on offense and NOT discuss it with his HC ?
If Richt chooses this offensive staff for ''harmony'' he is being a selfish fool.

If the rumors are true, Pruitt has way over stepped his bounds to the level of insubordination. I don't mean coaches yelling at each other during practice. He will not be retained at UGA and has probably damaged his career. The administration already had reservations about Pruitt before and this sealed it.

That's because they are lazy bastards and he pushed them to make needed changes.
It's clear to me the ''culture'' at UGA wants to get back to it's nap so it's pushing the source of progress out.

Well, no confirmation so it must not have been over the line, though something has to be done about the mediocrity in BM.

I have no argument with a change needs to be made. But this guy went about it the wrong way. I'm not convinced the guy is a great Xs and Os coach. He is definitely not HC material. At least not at a major program.

He was lobbying to certain people that Richt needed to be fired.

Exactly! CMR finally realized it. I think it was part of CJP's plan all along and that is why he brought in so many of his buddies. Also why I made the reference about Fulmer/Majors yesterday or the day before.

I don't know how a coach who has been part of a program that functions on all levels could watch the train wreck on offense and not try to open the HC's eyes to what is obvious to most of us.
It seems Schotty and Richt are co-enablers, somebody needed to shake that cozy little sing along out of it's shoes.
Pruitt's defense is heading in the right direction. The offense couldn't possibly be a bigger cluster duck. Solution, kill the messenger.

Never thought about it was his plan all along. Could be right. I think ADGM saw through it. CMR finally has.

What I've heard as well. Am surprised he wasn't thrown out immediately quite frankly.

It's probably more personally humiliating for Pruitt to stay on the job knowing that Richt foiled OPERATION TROJAN HORSE. Deep down inside, Pruitt knows he is a dead man career wise.

He may survive, but in lesser role than DC and never HC. Then again, he'd fit right in at AU. LOL....Somebody he thought was a "buddy" in the realm of money, politics of it all, etc. let the cat out of the bag apparently. And good for them.

Suddenly, Francis Tarkenton's quotes about Pruitt make sense to me. I'm sure Francis was speaking for a larger group of UGA alumni than just himself.

And you can bet after making the sizable donation towards new IPF, he's got some inside info.

And it has probably damaged his coaching career at the FBS level. No head coach would hire an assistant who can't be trusted.

All of this is rumor and speculation.
All I know is he is passionate, a great recruiter and THE ONLY reason I had hope for this coaching staff.
Take him and the improvements to the program he's fought for and where would we be right now.
It's just possible Richt resents the man for taking such a proactive role and making him look bad for NOT being as involved.

If Pruitt is out, where does that leave Richt ? I damn sure don't want to go through his hiring an entire new staff and the years of excuses that would bring with it.
If Pruitt leaves, I want the entire staff replaced.

May the Tom Herman era begin.

Not all is rumor and speculation. CJP is a hot head and has been a divisive cancer at 3 major colleges. He is a great recruiter, so Ill give him that.
If what I have heard from someone in the BM building is in fact true, he should have been fired first thing Monday morning. Not going to discuss what it is here in this forum, but when he is gone, it will get out.

That post is worse than rumor, it's complete nonsense.
If you think Pruitt would have been hired by Jimbo without praise from Saban and other Bama people I have to wonder who FSU consulted being CP hadn't worked anywhere else other than Bama and HS.

So your contention is Saban took Pruitt from an assistant HS coach, moved him up to the prized position of DB coach, won championships with him, recommended him to his good friend Jimbo, who made him his DC, yet through all of these upward moves he was considered ''a cancer'' ? that is ridiculous on it's face.

Ripley, you can believe it or not. I'm not going to say what happened after the Florida loss that has stirred all of this up. When he is gone, it will probably be out there. I will say, to CMR's credit, he has shown an awful lot of restraint. I would have fired CJP first thing Monday morning.

You've got to question why he would he move from FSU to UGA. The story that was pretty much in the public arena was that the guy could not stay away from the co-eds at FSU and his fiance wanted out of that environment. Not that Athens is full of a bunch of nuns but I think part of the reasoning was the type of program that CMR ran might be the place to settle down. Now I'm not a CMR defender at all and I will give JP his due as a recruiter. I don't think he is as good an Xs and Os DC that some want to think but he is a step up from what we have had. But there have been signs that this guy is a loose cannon and the UGA administration was already weary.

IF the rumors out of BM are true, he will have a hell of a time salvaging his career.

I think CMR did the right thing to keep Pruitt in place. As President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "It's better to have him inside the tent pissing out instead of outside the tent pissing in."

That is the kind of slander people dredge up when they're trying to destroy a political opponent. IF CP had issues with his GF everybody at UGA was aware of them BEFORE he was hired.
Now it's become shit to throw around because he's stepped on some lazy ass complacent toes for OUR sake, the fans should applaud him for shaking this bunch awake.
Pruitt will probably be fired. Next year we'll be left with nothing but a burnt out excuse making HC and whatever half ass coaching staff he can persuade to board his sinking ship.

Let me get this straight: you would reward Pruitt for undermining the athletic department and the head coach? You would reward disloyalty?

Glad you're not the athletic director....

Pruitt was pissing on a fire that is destroying the program, Richt is just too defensive to see it.
