1) Put Justin Thomas in as leadoff batter. You just can’t keep that kind of talent off the field. If he’s a 5-tool guy then he needs to play regularly. Are we the only team that would sit a guy like that to play a 6th year guy who doesn’t have near the talent or upside? Anderson is a DGD. But he needs to prep for med school. Thomas has MLB potential. This is a no-brainer. We have to have a bigger threat in the one-hole.
2. Sit Cole Wagner. Your DH should not be batting sub-200. Period. That’s a wasted at bat, which is something we cannot afford.
3. Slide Murillo to 2B. When he makes errors they are game changing stinkers. We need a true SS. Why we put David at 2B instead of SS in game 2 yesterday is beyond me.
This is how I see our lineup:
1. Thomas CF
2. Tate LF
3. Harber 1B
4. Condon RF
5. Collins DH/C
6. David 3B
7. Gonzales C or Spikes/Allen DH (when Collins catches)
8. Murillo 2B
9. LaPlant SS
I know the argument against Thomas is he has a sub-200 batting average. Well, he’s hardly played. Give the kid reps so he can build some consistency.
