Those numbers are not actually purchases, they are contract maximums....

over a 5 year period. It is necessary to write contracts that way so that suppliers can accurately bid.

The annual demand for ammo of various calibers within the US is about 10 BILLION rounds per year, the vast majority of which is for civilian use.

Myth of DHS stockpiling....

That's good to know, still seems like a boatload of ammo. Also goes to show that the liberals have no monopoly on distorting the truth.

Personally, I'm not too worried about it, as I am beyond flush with ammunition.

A lot of the ammo purchased is for standard training. You can earmark...

about 2,000 a year per firearm for training and qualifying. Multiply that by 50,000 firearms (a very low number) x 5 years and you are at 500 million rounds just for training.

The actual number of Federal agents who carry guns is probably close to 100K between DHS, FBI and DEA.
