China’s tariff “retaliation” a capitulation signaling their weakened position…

Good time to negotiate with these guys on our huge trade deficit with them.
This one will be a little more tricky than Canada and Mexico for sure. I like that China imposed tariffs is much different places this time around. Not trying to hurt Trump. Just saving face. They gave 6 days before they take place. This will give time for both sides to meet. China is in a much different place economically than the last time Trump went after them. We are too for that matter. I will be very curious to see how this works out. It is amazing also how that Taiwan threat seems to have gone away. So far Trump has been true to his words. Not sure why anyone is up in arms. He said he would do this and he has. And he didn’t wait.

China is a ticking time bomb. Their economy is more addicted to debt than ours, their demographic problems are worse than ours, and their leadership is explicitly hostile to the ideas that drove the reforms that led to their modern success.

The downsides is that these deeper problems can make a regime desperate, and desperate regimes can be more prone to aggression. But the perception of their strength and inevitable triumph in the West has long been misguided.
