My Brother In Law is a master at turning deer meat into mouth watering BBQ.
I wonder if Cochran likes BBQ, if so, what kind ?

I'd be interested to hear that process. I've got a friend down here in the real Georgia that swears by leaving the deer to drain out the blood for several days. I've never been a fan of vinison because of that strong flavor, but apparently it's because my redneck friends growing up didn't leave it hangin long enough - it's the iron from the blood that makes it too strong for my taste.

I know Bill cleans his, then he hangs them in a cooler set at 36 degrees for 6 or 7 days. He swears it makes a lot of difference in taste and texture. I don't doubt Him, I've tasted the finished product.

Sounds like the same process. I guess you need a damn big cooler, depending on how big a boy you take down...

Bill leaves His at a processor who has a walk in cooler. Most towns in this part of the country have deer processors with walk in coolers.

Lol, for sure. Some folks have the coin for their own. I don't know if I'd go down that road or not. There's lots of other BS I'd spend my $ on before I got a walk-in cooler!

The power bill alone would be enough to dissuade me from having one.
I confess, I haven't hunted in 25 years, but I have friends and relatives who live for it. The processor Bill uses is an old friend, he lets Bill use his cooler for nothing, Bill just cuts him off some meat as a barter. My Bro-Inlaw also makes fantastic deer sausage, it's the best sausage of any kind I've ever tasted.

That's the way we do it down here. Lots of folks get upset about the good ol boy network, but as a card carrying member, I can't complain! Heck, the only folks that miss out are the occasional unwanted Yankee transplant.

Good neighbors have used bartering systems for as long as Bi-pedals could point and grunt. There's nothing underhanded about it.
