Collards kick kale's ass

Why does every article on the health benefits of cruciferous vegetables leave out collards? They're all about kale, broccoli and brussel sprouts. If Popeye was from Georgia, he'd eat collards. Cabbage too.

Never had kale, but had plenty of collards before. Ranking my greens:

1) Turnip
2) Collards
3) Mustard

Like the taste of turnips greens slightly better.

You also have the turnip root (bulb) that you can cook with it or eat raw with a little bit of salt. Or, corn dodgers in your pot likker make turnip greens a slam dunk.

But you all probably “don’t know anything about all that”.

All 3 greens are good, but that is how I would rank’em…..cracklin cornbread always goes good with any, along with some pepper sauce.

And Turnip greens kick Collards ass.

Never had any but knew some folks who could cook up a mean batch of Poke Salad....
Never had and don't think I want that risk. Poke "sallet" salad can be poisonous if prepared incorrectly. Eeeek.

Kale is for buffet decoration,...not for eating

Kale is incredibly nutritious (and bitter) and during world war 2 when food was scarce,...nutrient dense foods were eaten like kale ...but thats only when society really needs to sacrifice

So can chitins, hasn’t affected me yet.

You got to just man up. If boiling them is too much, just fry them and kill it with cane syrup w/ a biscuit or hoe cake on the side.

You can thank me later.

Glad to see mustard on your list. They are my first choice. We always ate the turnip greens and roots together. Our relatives in SC ate turnips (roots) and salat (greens) separately.

And yes, cornbread works with everything. As long as it doesn’t have sugar in it.

I remember when you could buy seed turnips, kale and mustard all mixed together and as far as I know you can’t buy them like that anymore.

I like collards, turnips, mustard, spinach, but kale is good too. Most all greens have good health benefits.
