We moved to Columbus a few months back (GDB Synovus) and are ready to purchase a house.

What can anyone tell me about the following areas, esp. in comparison to one another?

Green Island Hills
Brookstone
Hilton Heights
Overlook

These are the areas people we know recommend we look...

FYI I work downtown and son is a 3rd grader at Brookstone... Proximity to both matters, but is not everything...

TIA!!!

Green Island has both older and newer homes. Most are very nice. Some of the older ones may need updating. Prices probably start around $400k and go north of $1M. Close to Brookstone.
Brookstone has older homes in the front section and newer homes in the back. Some nice homes but not the large private lots you'll see in GI or the super expensive homes. Close to Brookstone school.
Hilton Heights - mostly older homes except where people have torn down and rebuilt. Some super expensive homes and some more in the $300-$500 range. It's a large area and only loosely defined. Not close to Brookstone.
Overlook - very nice but smaller than the other areas. Only one or two roads leading in. Almost all the homes will be older (30 years +) but many are very nice. Like Hilton Heights, it's somewhat of a hodge podge with very nice homes and then a street over, homes at half the value. May not be a lot of inventory on the market to choose from. Not close to Brookstone.
You can't go wrong with any of them. Just depends on whether you want something newer or an older home with charm. If you want much newer construction, Wellington Pointe off Blackmon Road is very nice and has lots for building if you're into that. Not close to Brookstone, but an easy 15 minute drive on JR Allen to Bradley Park.

Awesome info 16Dawg. Much appreciated. One of our criteria is having a pool on property which has been very limiting...

Griffin - Lake Oliver on GA side is limited options (2 GIH but both around $1MM price)... Found beautiful Lake Oliver home on AL side for $300K but wife refuses to move over there
