-Classic Friday night SEC game. Well played all around, tense, crowd was great. Just a blast. Obviously you feel 100x better having won it. I like those games so much better than the 10-8 kind of affairs.

-Best we’ve pitched all season, by a lot. I know Saturday and Sunday in Gainesville were great efforts too, but much different with big lead. This one was tight all the way and we kept putting up 0’s.

-On that note, for all the negativity regarding the starting pitching, we’ve pitched three great games in a row, and also did a very good job with Florida after the 1st on Friday night. That Kentucky series was ugly, but we haven’t been that since that weekend.

-How do you rate Goldstein’s performance tonight? I thought his stuff wasn’t great… I mean, his fastball didn’t look very good and his curve wasn’t very tight… had a hard time throwing strikes and I thought that’s why he didn’t get many borderline calls. But then, he really didn’t give up many hits. He put up three 0’s. There is value in what he was able to do tonight. And there is no question that he’s gotten better in each start over the last three weekends.

-Auburn really pitched us well. They made two mistakes all night and we hit both out. Their reliever, Tilly, was really good. Glad we won’t have to see him again.

-Robbie Burnett must have been pretty sick. He just didn’t look like himself tonight. Bat looked slower too. That he DH’d spoke to his condition too, I believe.

-I like Obee in CF and McCarthy in LF… I think that’s our better defensive OF

-Best Kolten Smith has pitched since that Florida start last year. No question. Was in complete control. I was surprised he came out after 8… I really thought he’d get to finish it.

-Christian Adams is pretty slick at 2b. It’s a real contrast to last year… getting a bat in the lineup doesn’t mean sacrificing defense. How nice is that?

-I may be totally off on this, but it seems like Kolby Branch comes up a lot after a HR..

-If you sat through the 2023 season, or even last season, DJ Radtke isn’t the first guy you’d think would come on and shut down a close Friday night conference game. Really can’t say enough about the improvement he’s made.

-Tomorrow ought to be a hell of a good day for baseball. They’ve got a lot of bullets in their chamber, pitching wise, and so do we.

-Lastly, I’m very happy to see us win a game like that. Knowing that you can beat a good team in this league without doing a whole lot offensively… it didn’t feel like we could win a game like this two weekends ago, and the tight game we won at Florida, we won 8-7. You’re not going to score 8 or 10 (or 17) runs every time out.

I don’t know what it’s going to be in May or June, but we are a lot better than we were at this time last year.
