If Gurley had the amount of carries I’m almost confident he beats Herschel
Not to mention the difference in the quality of athletes in the game today vs 40 years ago
Herschel has gotten very political on Twitter, to the point where I had to unfollow because I’m just trying to avoid that as much as I can on there, and his viewpoints tend to skew differently than a lot of guys in the current generation.
I think both would have done well in each other’s era. A fun debate with no real right answer
HW would have been the goat in any era!
Counterpoint: part of Herschel’s greatness was his ability to handle all those carries. Not a lot of backs can handle that wear and tear. It’s a fun debate.
Also worth noting Gurley benefited from a really proficient passing game.
I’d take either and sleep well at night though.

I've seen them all going back to Bob Taylor in 1965. That is a lot of very good to great running backs. I have said here on numerous occasions that, if I had my pick, I would take Todd Gurley.

Gurley has 400ish attempts less. If he kept up his ypg and those attempts he would surpass HW by 1,000 yards or so in the same amount of time.

Herschel has been through a lot in his life, and has gained something called wisdom, he like many others in this country, are watching the younger generation be lied to and exploited, by academics, and organizations, leading them down the primrose path to socialism. They would do well to listen to him. Ask the people who were in the revolutions in Cuba, and Venezuela, how well that worked out for them. At least then they would no what real oppression and economic disparity is.

You know, he still does 10's of thousands sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups per day? Ran a timed 4.4 at Dallas Cowboys practice facility 3 years ago. I say take ANY athlete WITH today's S&C and see if they can keep up. ))

With that said, this may be one of the most racist things I've seen posted on here. Who exactly does he have to pander to? The man has more integrity in his left leg than many do in their entire body. Go read the statement that his son recently came out with. He's about 20 and has more brains than many "adults" in this country.
This just goes back to something I've said for the last couple of years. The group of people I truly feel sorry for in this country are African-American conservatives, or not even conservatives, just the ones that are told they are sell-outs or Uncle Toms for not consistently voting the democrat party line. How dare they have a different viewpoint. White people obviously are allowed to vote how they choose, as are literally any other race/nationality, but no sir, not the blacks!

Feels like less and less so every day. Too much jersey wearing when it comes to politics in this country.
Just my opinion, but CB and HW both had pretty childish reactions to an opposing viewpoint here.
I’m not picking sides here, but I’m just saying the obvious...that a 50-something and a 20-something are generally going to see the world pretty different.
Yes he certainly does and I love him all the more for it!
HW is his own man - he believes what he believes regardless of what the PC police say he is supposed to feel as a black man. We can all learn something from that.
I do agree that we would all benefit from listening to each other more. Twitter is just a terrible place for any kind of political discussion though. It’s almost all toxic there, keyboard warriors hiding behind anonymity saying things they would never say face to face with someone and bots sowing discord. That’s why I had to ultimate unfollow Herschel... the kind of posts he has been making are just a magnet for that stuff. On Twitter I’ve just whittled it down to sports only (which is frankly also getting too political to my liking since there isn’t much in the way of actual live sports happening right now).
