Afternoon everyone.
Well, we just got back from the practice field over at Milledge for the first day in shells and the heat was definitely on - literally and figuratively.
The media gets to watch periods 2-4 and today, as has been the case, the first drill we see are pursuit drills with defense.
For those wondering, these are the players who were with the first group - Safety Quincy Mauger, ILB Reggie Carter, ILB Natrez Patrick, Nose John Atkins, DT Trenton Thompson, OLB Lorenzo Carter, OLB D'Andre Walker, OLB Davin Bellamy, CB Malkom Parrish, CB Juwan Briscoe, CB Aaron Davis.
No, this should not be taken as a starting lineup (for instance, Dominick Sanders was not in on this particular drill), but it was interesting to see how Coach Kirby Smart had them line up.
Smart wasn't happy with what he saw, yelling throughout the drill, getting on one player in particularly (I think it was Atkins) that he'd better losing some weight.
* Sony Michel was dressed out and actually took a couple of handoffs during run-polish drills. After that, he went back to work with head trainer Ron Courson while the other backs went to work on footwork drills with Del McGee.
You can watch those drills below.
* On the injury front, the only player I noticed who was not there was running back Shaquery Wilson, who Smart said Tuesday was suffering with a bone bruise. He's not expected out for long.
Otherwise, Terry Godwin, DaQuan Hawkins and Justin Young were all back at practice.
* A day after catching an earful for overthrowing his targets, quarterback Jacob Eason appeared more on target, making a couple of beautiful long throws, one going for a completion while the other was dropped.
* It's always a treat to watch the defensive line going through blocking drills. Below, you can watch for yourself as Georgia's "big boys" go through their paces.
* We finally received the official fall camp rosters today and below are a couple of links for you to see for yourself until I can upload them in our system.

Watched mostly QBs today, but I overheard a few things from a few other positional groups in the mean time that I want to touch on first.
- Not sure who he was talking to, but Brandon Kublanow was absolutely reaming somebody out in the offensive line session. Had some very choice language for whoever it was, but the main message was about that person 'being concerned with (himself)'. Have really noticed Kublanow stepping up to the plate the last few days.
- Tracy Rocker was also giving someone the business over on the defensive line drills due to selfishness. I've found it interesting that the theme of losing that has been so prevalent from coaches and players early on.
- As for the quarterbacks, you can probably tell from the video that I spent most of my time focusing on Eason, and I liked what I saw. He overthrew a route or two, but, for the most part, he was crisp and on target with his deliveries.
- I really think there's something clicking early for Eason and Michael Chigbu. They seem to have a natural feel for each other, and Eason seems to hits him in stride each time they throw together.
- As for the older guys, Greyson Lambert had an issue leading guys a little too far today in the few I watched of his, but I thought Brice Ramsey did a solid job all around. You can tell he does not have the arm talent of Eason, but he looks like he's got a good feel for the receivers and can put the ball where it needs to be.

- Yes it was hot as Beyonce's backside out there today and you could actually see guys struggling with the heat. Tempers were short too. Kublanow, as Jake mentioned, absolutely lit into one of the guys holding a dummy. Brandon was challenged by Smart to be a leader and he is stepping into that role, in his own do-as-I-say-or-I-will-knock-you-out manner that we find so endearing.
- Kirby Smart yelled at this first string as he was stunned they were not moving as fast as he wanted. "You ran three &^%#$*! plays... three plays...." Then he tore into D'Andre Walker and Chuks Ameachi saying that on their three plays, they "did nothing right!"
- Even Sam Pittman was getting short, yelling that he has already showed these guys what to do and he didn't want to have to do it again.
- Shane Beamer was telling Jackson Harris in no uncertain terms how he wants to "destroy the defensive end" on their blocks and Beamer proceeded to demonstrate.
- As for the quarterbacks, my pick to start the first game is still Brice Ramsey. The crazy thing is despite the heat and the yelling, he was grinning ear to ear the entire time we were out there. I have yet to see Greyson Lambert smile in three days. He looks at the ground a lot and seems to have a furrowed brow. Jacob Eason had an issue on pitching the ball to Nick Chubb, tossing it way behind No. 27.
- Javon Wims looked do have jammed his hand at one point but returned shortly thereafter. That is an impressive looking kid.
-Isaiah Mckenzie showed his freakish jumping ability on a one-handed catch.
- Not to be outdone, Terry Godwin returned to practice and made a ridiculous one-handed catch on a ball that was overthrown. What was more interesting what that no one even whistled or acknowledged that this was out of the ordinary.
- Someone gave Ben Cleveland a mohawk haircut. Or maybe he did it himself. My guess is he lost a bet. Pictures coming.
