In speaking with people around Swainsboro, it appears Demello Jones has been strongly committed to Georgia. He’s been telling people all around he’ll be a Bulldog, including someone close to the Swainsboro program earlier this week.
Jones said he and Ellis Robinson have formed a close relationship as the two remaining defensive back commits. They’re looking forward to one day forming Georgia’s next great lockdown corner duo.
Georgia wants Jones as a corner. He has transitioned to play more corner this year for Swainsboro after playing more safety last year. The staff sets him on the other team’s best receiver and tells him to lock it down.
He did that pretty much all night. Jones only had a couple passes thrown his way, both in the closing minutes. He did pick up one pass interference call, but also made a nice recovery on a play he was beaten on and forced an incompletion.
Jones played it close to the vest when asked about the future of the Georgia DB class. But he did smile and say that he and Robinson have “a couple guys” they’re working on.
