i caught with UGA 2024 commit Demello Jones last night. It’s been reported before, but again, the four-star athlete plans to sign and enroll early in December. “I am 100 percent a Dawg,” he said.
Jones thinks the defensive back class for the Dawgs has shaped up nicely. He spoke highly of Ondre Evans, who flipped from LSU to UGA a few months ago.
Jones’ speed was put in display Friday night as the centerpiece of Swainsboro’s offense. He scored a couple of touchdowns in a win over Elbert County. After scoring one of his touchdowns, Jones ran up and pointed to the Mecole Hardman sign at the Granite Bowl. The former Dawg had his number retired by Elbert County a few years ago. When I asked Jones about that, he smiled and said he wanted to be like Hardman.
Jones wants Georgia to win its third championship in a row, and said at the end of the interview, “After the three, there’s going to be three more when I get there, so it’s going to be good.”
