was the last big time recruit from Clarke...they have produced some stars in the past...

I hope I am wrong, but the fact that he is public school...

educated in Clarke Co. makes me think he might have a time getting in to school at UGA. The kids in Clarke Co are as dumb as any that you will ever see.

What a fool you must be

That is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read on this site (and that is really saying something). Clarke Central is one of the best public high schools in Georgia. And, by the way, don't you live in Alabama? Have you taken a look around recently? That pit of red neck imbecility should give you bottomless depths of dumb.

Glad you said that. CCSD has the National Supt of the year, plus

a lot of other positive recognition coming our way. Any "dumb" school attendees would be so called dumb in any system. You have to want an education to get one.

Reading comprehension is not your strong point. I said

Clarke Co. schools. And yes, I stand by that. The absolute reason I moved out of Athens to a surrounding county. Fwiw, Clarke Central rates a 4 out of 10 and Cedar rates a 3 out of 10 by great schools rating. The GreatSchools Rating is on a 1-10 scale, where 10 is the highest and 1 is the lowest. Ratings are broken down into three categories: ratings 1-3 signal that the school is "below average," 4-7 indicate "average," and 8-10 are "above average." Clearly the numbers used to measure greatness don't jive with your math.

Do the numbers lie? CC was 260 of 417 high schools as far as rankings go.

Cedar was 348 of 417. That averages out as a 304 for Clarke Co schools. Bottom 30% in the state. If you add in the 3rd school, it's even worse.

Re:

I don't know a PC way of saying what brings down scores in this smallest county in Ga. You lived here, so I would think you know about the makeup of the population. The fact of having so much public housing and so many poor families does not help.

The schools continue to improve, but the makeup isn't improving with white flight to Oconee.

Demographics definately the problem. Liberal town ..

and we know how that ends up when everyone is on the government payroll. Same with all the other liberal towns/schools in the state. Just what it is. And yes, demographics/school system is the reason we fled Clarke for Oconee. At least I know my children now stand a fighting chance.

It has never hurt our son who owns his own business. There are

many, many others who are doing quite well since graduating from CCSD. The schools are fine if you are there to learn.
The real estate folks were all too happy to keep telling folks how bad the schools are so they could sell those high dollar houses in Oconee.
