This is a link to LIU Brooklyn's athletic facilities. Their baseball team shares a field with their softball, lacrosse, and soccer teams. I don't think I've ever seen that before. I looked at this on Google Maps and it seems that they have very little in the way of seating around their baseball field. Looks like you could get a good view from that high rise right beside their field.

(Type in "LIU Athletic Center" in Google Maps if you want to see for yourself).

This site has a review of their field ... https://stadiumjourney.com/stadiums/liu-field-s2794 ... Looks like the capacity is 500, but I'm not sure if that includes the softball stands. I'm guessing so.

I said earlier today that I didn't mind playing this as a one game, midweek deal. But man alive, this is a bad loss... I mean, they're only in the same classification as us (Div 1-A) by the loosest measure ... they should no more come to our stadium and beat us than Mr. Ed should win a race at Aqueduct. Back in 2016, Wright State came down here and beat us one game on a weekend and played us close all weekend long. But that was a good team (who didn't have their best player). Tonight wasn't as bad as the first two games of that Rider series in 2017 as LIU Brooklyn didn't hammer us tonight. So I guess there is that. But still, this a team who was 0-6 coming in and who'd been outscored 45-9 (in six games vs Lamar and Florida Gulf Coast). To that end, it's not surprising that we only allowed one run. Very surprising that we didn't score. Their starter, Svete, has been good this year. But it's not like he went CG and it's not like we shouldn't have hit him. Lamar managed to scratch a run across on him.

All of this said, there is no reason to freak out over one game. We haven't really been in the habit of losing games like this since 2017 and I don't think we'll make a habit out of it now. I think, honestly, that we're a little bit bored right now. We haven't played much in the way of competition so far this year.... I said that after Saturday that I saw more intensity on some fall scrimmages in the past than I saw against UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon. I can't fault anyone for that. I think if you're a player, you can't fool yourself into thinking that UMass Lowell or LIU Brooklyn are something that they aren't. And that's the risk of playing games like this.

Hopefully tonight refocuses things a little bit...
