We were planning to eat at Herschel's last night and found it is closed. Searched online and only found that they closed in January and a former manager was charged with 11 counts of theft for stealing. What's the story on why they closed? Was it due to the manager stealing or was that after they were already going to close? We enjoyed going there when we're in Athens.

As a restaurant owner, I am willing to bet it was due to the theft. I had an employee almost close me down last year, and I'm an on site owner/operator.

Management professor told us restaurants are the most difficult...

businesses to keep going. Theft of food, alcohol and cash is a huge problem at almost all restaurants. I really admire someone who can make it in the restaurant business for a long time.

Mexican restaurants never close down

i don't think Juan in a Million will ever shut down.

Football throng wasn't there every day of the week ..

Not many locals in Athens thought much of the place. It sure wasn't very good the time I went there.

Combine sub par food and theft and you have a recipe for disaster.

Had a guy today tell me he was disappointed that we didn't have real hamburgers, I said what do you mean? He said hand pattied burgers. I told him I buy a fresh burger, never frozen, one of best you can buy. Friend of mine standing there says "hell, if you don't like the burgers, be glad you didn't try the bbq. I couldn't help but laugh.

That was funny. You gotta laugh on that one.
