It’s hard to sweep on the road. And as bad as Missouri was earlier in the year, they’re playing better now.

We’ve now dropped game one in four of the six weekends we’ve played. But the good news is, we haven’t gotten swept yet and the other three times we have lost the opener, we’ve come back to win game two twice. So this is hardly uncharted water.

When Fred Corral went to Missouri, I really thought they’d have a bit of an advantage given his familiarity with our hitters. That just didn’t show up in 2018 or 2019. This is the first year since he’s left that seen a group of hitters who didn’t overlap his tenure. I don’t think they’ll have nearly as much success the rest of the weekend, but tip your cap, they pitched us well.

Let’s come back and get the next two. I’d wager that our players and coaches are still more confident about winning this series than they are. I’m confident that we will too.
