I have told my wife one of the reasons so many people cannot drive well is that driving is only one of about 3 or 4 different things they are doing while behind the wheel. Usually the phone and eating take priority. Looking ahead, using mirrors and yielding to faster traffic are skills unknown to them.

Yep. While my pupils are probably dilated and the hair on my arms is standing on end. I tend to try to avoid sudden stops for that reason.
