Not sure if DD was ever mentioned in the downhill fast food places thread, but my lort.

What has changed over the last decade or so to where the donuts are so bad now? I know they stopped making them fresh in the stores (RIP “time to make the donuts” era with Fred the baker), but is that the only reason?

Or is this an example of the Mandela Effect and they were never good to begin with, I was just 10 and loved donuts?

Anyway, the brownie batter donut is still the best seasonal donut they roll out, I just wish the donut would last more than a day before going stale. And yes, the black coffee at DD is still king of fast food coffee.

Go Dawgs from up here in the North GA Mtns.

I am with you guys in this.
KK is King here. Yeast doughnuts rule!!!!

I will eat the DD if there is nothing else around but that are not as good as they were . Not that they were that great to start with.

DD lovers seem to start around DC and go north

I only get the coffee. It’s the best for the money if you’re hitting a drive thru.

We just got one a few months back in Vidalia and I wasn’t overly excited but honestly the few times I’ve gotten donuts or the donut holes from them they’ve been pretty good. Their coffee is pretty decent…maybe I’m just blinded by the one here being a quarter mile or so from my house so i go pretty frequently but it seems like our location is not as bad as what some of you have described.

Dunkin for the coffee and Krispy Kreme for the donuts.

We have a brand new Dunkin about 10 min into my drive to work (when I go to the office). This place opened late last summer and it was hot garbage from day one. Awful wait times and as for the food....I would rather eat cornpone and hardtack. Coffee is great though.

I could afford to lose 20 pounds and love a good donut. Pass 2 or 3 DDs on the way to work every day. I don’t even consider stopping there. Hot glazed Krispy Kreme all day for me.

After working a long work project in New England here is what to order from Dunkin.

Large black coffee with shot of espresso.
Coffee roll
Or
Coffee cake muffin.

Nothing else from there is good or worth the calories.

This thread also makes me so sad for all the folks that don’t live near Bakers Pride in Savannah. To live life without experiencing their chocolate covered doughnuts is a sad, unfulfilled half life.

Dunkin has always had better coffee than donuts IMO. And living in New England where there is a Dunkin on every corner, the donuts are just average.
I don’t eat the donuts, but I’ll have a regular coffee anytime before 12. Afterwards it affects my sleep.

Salt Lake City of all places is home to a half dozen gourmet donut shops. Each one guilty of gilding the lily

DD's donuts are still solid, IMO. Go with a maple frosted and you won't regret it.

What I like about DD is that you don't have to go far to find one, the coffee is good, service is pretty quick, etc.

I used to get a Dunkin Bacon Egg and Cheese bagel on the way to work, my route has since changed. But I loved those breakfast sandwiches. I think the Donuts are fine. And I like KK too, but the legend of KK has kind of outgrown the actual quality of the donuts IMO. Other then of course the glazed donuts at KK, those are truly the legendary part of their franchise.

Donuts have always been mediocre, your taste has become more refined, their service has always been terrible, don't know how they survive

I must be the minority, but I've always thought their coffee is terrible. Not Chick-Fil-A bad, but pretty close.

It just one of those things man. You like what you like. Starbucks to me is complete garbage for instance. If I need a quick coffee on the run its DD or McDonalds for me.

I am 53 and still love donuts. Good point on them going stale. I ASSume they arrive at the store frozen and they pretty much just thaw them out

McDonalds coffee surprised me at how good it was. Definitely one of the better fast food coffee options out there. I agree with you on Starbucks.
