I have “lurked” for a few years and felt no great need to join the discussion, because I would just be parroting many of the posts on this board (by the way my first post was on DawgTrade). However, seeing the numerous posts critical of some of the posters here who offer analysis of the games or Fox, I thought it would be timely to add my comments.

Just for context, nothing drives me crazier than seeing people post “Fire Fox” or “Fire Chaney” after a basketball or football loss without any reasoning behind their post. Such a post does not add to my knowledge or enjoyment of the game, and I am a subscriber to UGA Sports for entertainment. I tend to be optimistic about sports and my Dawgs in particular and want to feel good about the direction of our programs. Constant negative posting is depressing, and spoils the entertainment I get from this Board.

However, I have found that the analysis on this Board has been largely fair and appropriate. By and large, those people who have offered their perspective on Fox and the games have raised legitimate issues, and anyone who has played the game and enjoyed it as long as I have, see the reasonableness of the points raised. For example, in the LSU game, we went on a run after the half by playing superb defense and pushing the ball up court after collaring the rebound of a missed shot. By playing in such a manner, we got back into the game. However, that run of good basketball was quickly revealed to be a quirk and a momentary lapse and not a strategy by CMF, as we went back to slow and plodding basketball once we tied up the game (or came within 2 points or so). I checked the board at that point and saw that Herb had made a comment about this same matter. You might not agree with Elevator (I did), but I think it would be unfair to say he was being negative just because he offered an opinion criticizing putting the brakes on our players. Such an analysis is not just “Fire Fox” when he does not win, but offers insight into what should be done to improve our play, win or lose. Wins do not always reflect good coaching, and by the same token, losses do not always reflect bad coaching.

In much the same way, I feel that most posters (not all) who have been offering analysis of the games have not been negative but have made appropriate and timely remarks about our style of play and up to now, failed recruiting. I can offer my own analysis, but I do not want to repeat what has been better said by others. But to call these people negative is simply incorrect and unfair.
