...and I certainly do... Tech lost again.

That's not news, other than it being their last home game and last desperate chance of winning another game. Next week is at South Bend. Week after that is at Mark Richt Field at Bobby Dud Grunt Stadium, an even more hostile environment. They're sitting at three wins, the same three they managed each of Geoff CoLLins' two other seasons. CoLLins told the AJC that "some just don't want to see the progress." I'm not one of those. I would LOVE to see the progress, but the more I stare at it, the more I see nine wins in three seasons. He loves talking about the 404, but what I see is 333.

Slap-fights, those ugly twists on the tickle pile, are breaking out in every thread of the Stingtalk forum. I can never buy enough popcorn. At least when they ran that accursed perversion of righteous football, the triple option, we had to do all kinds of extra prep, and we had to buy lots of knee-centric insurance for the team. The week before the SECC we had to fuss with all this crap.

Now, the Tech game is basically Week 2 of the Charleston Southern Game.

To me, that game is dessert for every great season. For some of you, I realize, you're above enjoying such trifles. Your head is in the lofty clouds of ESPN talking head discussions, no time for lore and legacy in the midst of playoff bracket discussions, and you can't be bothered with an historic state rival.

Listen, I'm "above" a big ol' dish of pecan pie with ice cream melting into its baked wonderfulness. I don't "need" such a thing. It's irrelevant to my nutritional requirements. But you know what? I get a hell of a lot of pleasure from consuming that dessert. Always have, always will. Thanksgiving weekend, one last leftover. Bon appetit.
