although losing to tech is never funny.
We’ve pitched so well this year. Not just on the weekends, but mid weeks too... by my count, we are 33-4 when we score any runs at all... think about that. In more than half of our losses this season, we’ve been shutout.
We haven’t pitched this well over the past few years, not close, but we have really shut down tech’s hitters when we play them. In three games against tech last year, we gave up 4 runs. Total. In 2017, when we largely couldn’t do anything right, we gave up 12 runs to tech in three games. In 2016, we allowed 13 runs to tech in three games. In 2015, we allowed 13 runs to tech in two games. We shut them out at Turner Field that season. The 13 runs we allowed at home was largely a function of our pitching staff being hampered with injuries.
This season we allowed 21 runs to tech. Granted, this is a better tech lineup than they’ve had recently... but we are better pitching too. How do you figure that?
Anyway, losing to tech sucks, but that’s basically the only negative in this season so far. We lost the regular season series with tech in 2004 and 2008 (but we beat their ass in June when it really counted) and those seasons turned out just fine.
