Fwiw, I think our overall talent takes a sizeable dip at this point in '24.

It's not for a lack of ability to recruit or manage rosters on Kirby's end. It's just hard to maintain the level of depth we've enjoyed in today's game.

The main reason for the dip is because the replacement level in the portal is worse than what we are losing. That said, a lot of what we are losing is based on fits. For instance, there is no way we don't lose more on the edge than what we bring in. Edge for us is pretty unique in that we essentially only use one Edge. I can't pinpoint when that finally started occuring, but we're unique in that regard. I do think we'll find adequate replacements because they'll likely fit... it's just impossible for them to be as talented overall based on what's out there, in addition to our policy on overpaying divas imo.

Anyway, it's conceivable we may have the greatest exodus of talent in the sport's history this year. Amazing to think we'll still be contenders next year, but there is no reason to think we won't if Carson comes back. We'll maintain just enough continuity on the OL (strange for a unit that will likely lose four starters and had lost so much in the portal in recent classes) WR, ILB and in the secondary.

Thank Dawg for Kirby's recruiting and roster management to date.
