Higher education has become a huge bubble, people think it's...
like monopoly money. Either the lottery is paying or student loans are paying. No system where the consumer isn't paying will have any motivation to control costs. The whole thing is a house of cards.

Unless you are on the top echelon of Hope, they don't pay nearly
as much as they used to. Around 70% and nothing for the books...ie internet orders for access to tests etc...that shat is expensive. I know, have been paying for my Son...who to his credit is graduating next month from GA Southern.....but it has not been cheap, and he has been on the gutted HOPE the entire time. They changed it his Freshman year or so.

for people. Literally said govt needs to take care of children from birth all the way through. I've had her in the background on C-Span for over an hour (I know, I guess I like torture). She has not said people need to do one thing on her own - it is all about govt taking care of it all. But she said we need to leave the partisanship at the door - LOL. It's nothing but a regressive tax anyway - shouldn't have it at all ..
F' state run lotteries, IMO. But it's there, so I'm glad your son did well in HS and is taking advantage of it.

I think that is all it takes. Harder to stay in College...it is good way to get back some welfare money from the masses that the Govt distributes....the lottery that is.

when I'm standing in line at the convenience store. Not just blacks, some white trash and working class types, too. I have seen very few folks that appear to be dressed for an upper middle or above job buying a bunch of scratch offs.

Nothing pisses me off more than when I'm trying to buy a 6 pack
and these low lifes are standing there turning in their tickets and buying new ones. They cant tell you the time of day but they know about all about a straight, box straight, etc. But like op said it is a way to get some of it back......I guess.
