1. The guard play should be unacceptable by two seniors and a junior. KG,CM and JJ have played a ton of basketball theres no reason after three years of playing they still struggle against the press so badly. The guards over committed in the zone defense leading to driving lanes, struggled in man to man and committed 7 TOs. Coach needs to talk to these guys about leadership and playing with consistency.
2. DO is ready for starter level minutes. He couldnt keep Egbunu off the glass but he shut Egbunu down completely in the second half. DO gonna to a good one, i think hes already better than Yante at the same stage last year just need minutes and he gives a high-low option because he and Yante are good passers. I would also like to see Iduwe get some minutes against these bigger more athletic post as he came in fired up and made a great stand against Egbunu using his length and size.
3. Kessler only played nine minutes and got abused for 9 of those minutes. Kessler gonna get us killed early in these conference games. Cant guard, rebound or score against Power 5 level players. KPG level of production will take a dip now that the comp is better, tonight was some proof of that, he has to hit threes otherwise hes going to struggle tremendously to be productive.
4. Yante is a stud and will be outstanding as he continues to get better and better.
5. The worst shooting team in the SEC made 9 threes, got to the freethrow line and won the glass, they were the better team tonight and deserved the win.
